Talent not up to snuff for Weis?

08:17 AM ET 06.15 | The success of Charlie Weis' scheme could be limited by the material with which he's working. Expect a variety of looks from Weis, from two-back/two-tight end sets to empty backfield/four-wide sets. The key for Weis is finding a quarterback. But can senior John Brantley, who played poorly in 2010, do what is needed? He was ill-suited for the spread because no opponent worried about him on the option. ... There also are potential issues at receiver (there is no proven go-to guy) and running back (is there a feature back on the roster?). In addition, the line will have four new starters, and two of the projected starters have been extremely injury-prone in their careers (junior tackle Matt Patchan and senior guard James Wilson). The bottom line: Florida may lack the personnel to take full advantage of Weis' attack in 2011.

It can not get any worse than last years offense.

Yes it can, but I hope for sure not, but in the back of my mind I am very worried that it will, I just do not have much faith in Brantley at all. Why is that Keil fellow not being sought after by the Gators really really hard?

Driskell, Briskett, and Murphy all have four years of eligibility.

but what about the "schematic advantage"?

What difference does it make? He couldn't win with all the talent he had at ND. You suck, Charlie!

Dear Interns:

Please stop using this picture. It makes me sad.

I think Muschamp might kick his butt for saying something like that.

I wonder if Weis would be hard to control, especially since he's been a head coach at a major program and this is Muchamp's first HC gig.

So far he is deferring to Mus, I think Darth Foley would step in if needed. IMO Weis never liked dealing with the media, so now it is minimal.

I think Weis will do well at Florida.

Florida has huge talent every year, so it's easy recruiting. Weis's offense was never the problem at ND. I don't like Weis, and I really dislike Florida - so I'm indifferent to their success... But I don't think Florida will stay at the bottom for too long.

This pretty much echoes my thoughts on the situation as well. Will the UF fans and boosters give Muschamp and Weiss enough to time to get the O off the ground and running before firewillmuschamp.com shows up? I think the defense will continue to be very good to great with the talent level there.

Rivals cracks me up ...

"Charlie Weis has arrived from the NFL with his pro-style attack ... ... ... The bottom line: Florida may lack the personnel to take full advantage of Weis' attack in 2011."

Forget about all those top 5 recruiting classes ... let's turn the apple cart upside down, change the scheme and blame it on the personnel.

New England ran a passing spread using a pure drop-back passer, no real feature back and an unwanted undersized slot receiver ... and they had great success ... and Weis was there ... so what's the problem?

Their Quarterback?

Weis likes to throw the ball. That is where the talent is most questionable.

The Oline and lack of a go to WR was a bigger problem. Brantley has the talent, he just needs confidence. Hopefully Weis is able to build it back up.

I'm still unsure why Muschamp hired Weiss. All the attention will be centered around the magnet for gravity Weis is. He's like a black hole that sucks up all the matter into his "anti-matter" of hell stomach.

Yes ... he likes to throw a handful of predictable routes. It requires a QB who can throw a pretty ball up high and a receiver who can create separation and run under it. I saw nothing at ND that led me to believe he learned anything at New England with regards to spreading the field with receivers and using a combination of pre-snap and post-snap reads to dictate the direction of the play.
