08:21 AM ET 06.15 | Even if he loses, there is sentiment that Tim Thomas will follow in the footsteps of, most recently, Ron Hextall and J-S Giguere. If they haven't chiseled Thomas's name into the Conn Smythe Trophy yet, they should start sharpening the engraving tool. Thomas clearly has been the top performer of these 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs, no matter what the result of Wednesday night's Game 7 showdown between the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks. Thomas has allowed just eight goals through six games of the final against the Canucks, the league's top scoring team during the regular season. In addition, he needs to turn aside just six more pucks to set the record for most saves by a goalie in a single postseason.

If Tim Thomas doesn't win the Conn Smythe, there should be an investigation! He has been solid and has brought his team to the verge of the Cup...nobody on Vancouver deserves it!

Conn Smythe would not mean **** to Thomas if they don't win the Cup tonight.

Barring anything catastrophic, and by catastrophic I mean catastrophic, he is the only out and out one who deserves it. IF Luongo had of closed out Boston in Boston to win the cup, there could be an argument, but now, none.

He could hang his "participant" ribbon from it.

How many do you have?

June 15, 2011  09:34 AM ET

I guess after Luongo's joke of a game 6, there is really no discussion. Even three finals shutouts doesn't seem like it would be enough, although I would consider that an incredible stat on its own.

No way, he's "too rough" for the Conn Smythe.

A few. But they are balanced by a few championship ribbons.
