08:07 AM ET 06.16 | It should be noted that Prince Fielder is not playing favorites -- why would he if free agency beacons? Fielder, 27, said he's not looking at free agency yet. "Not right now," he said, "because I play for the Brewers, and that would be selfish of me to think about next year, because I'm signed here, and I have a job to do here." But despite a rivalry that has resulted in him being hit by pitches more times (10) than against any other team, Fielder said he has no problems with the Cubs that would prevent him from listening to an offer. "I don't have any problems with any team," Fielder said. "But just right now I'm a Brewer still." Oh, and one more thing: Don't waste your time this week looking for a pregame hug between Fielder and Cubs general manager Jim Hendry. "Never met him," Fielder said.

All MLB free agents owe it to themselves to go out to lunch with Jim Hendry and see how much he will offer to overpay them. Hendry has no clue when he is far exceeding other GM's offers as he did with Soriano and Bradley.

wish the Rockies weren't so damn cheap

If the Cubs gave Carlos Pena $10 mill for this season, they'll likely offer Prince $75 mill for next year.

Its gonna be interesting 2 c where he ends up. The big market teams all have long term deals locking up their 1b. Cubs would make the most sense.

Anyone hear trade rumors yet? I've heard Orioles may be interested. I think it'd be stupid to not resign him, even stupider? to let him walk after this season.

milwaukee, Selig's money pit, will buy in years it is in contention and sell when it is not, all the time trying to keep their payroll down. not a bad way to go for a team without the really large money to just toss around.
