Esiason: Bengals deserve 'last' ranking

08:01 AM ET 06.17 | News of landing last on a ranking of pro sports teams was met with a shrug by a former favorite son of the Bengals. As Boomer Esiason said Thursday, "Don't you think we'd all be surprised if they weren't ranked last?" Man has a point. These sorts of best stories -- places to be single, raise families, eat eggplant parmesan in your pajamas -- generate more heat than light. They're similar to ranking high school football or basketball teams nationally. Who knows? As recently as 2006, the Bengals were 19th. It's not as if Mike Brown turned into Mike Brown since then. Mike Brown has always been Mike Brown. "It's never going to change," Esiason said Thursday. "There is no expectation the team is going to win. There never has been. I can't sugarcoat it."

June 17, 2011  08:06 AM ET

And THAT is why Boomer became a "JET"!!

June 17, 2011  08:17 AM ET

So, since when is Boomer an expert on either eggplant parmesan or pajamas?

Ya wanna talk pajamas? Then put up the picture of Jen Sterger in her nightie.

June 17, 2011  08:18 AM ET

Very surprising statement by Boomer....NOT!!!

You know you have hit rock bottom when Nick Lachey starts ripping you a new one. I didn't even know he was still alive I thought he was doing hog reports or had mysteriously vanished into the Cincinnati Triangle.

I'm still surprised it wasn't the Clippers.

Dagnabbit, Glenlivet, now I've got to dig that name out from underneath all those beer-soaked neurons. Stains. Something about Stains. I refuse to look it up. It's a matter of pride.
