08:09 AM ET 06.17 | A Jet may be looking to land in the rafters. With one year left on Jason Terry's current contract, there are some that wonder if next season could be it for one of the Mavericks' top perimeter players. With next season up in the air due to a potential lockout, there's a possibility this past season could be it for Terry. And during Thursday's celebration at the American Airlines Center, Terry hinted he'd like one more thing before he goes: "Brad Davis, Ro Blackman, move over, there's new jerseys coming to town." As Terry has mentioned many times before, he always wanted to retire with the Mavericks and, if the Mavericks won the title, have his No. 31 jersey retired. With a championship under his belt, he very well could get his wish.

He will get his wish...

But - I wish they would retire Aguirre's first.

Michael Finley? Ha ha ha ha ha. Sure he toiled, but aside from that what did the brotha really accomplish? You can't start retiring jersey's because a dude is a nice guy.

agreed. i can't think of any other player that merits the convo...

He's one of the all time great Mavericks, his number should be retired but asking or hinting at it is kinda cheap. Kinda like Kareem asking for a statue. Just doesn't leave a good taste in your mouth.

You shouldn't have to ASK to be honored.

Has there ever been a bench player gotten his number retired by a team before? Anyone know?

Good thing the bar is set low, Bro.

scoring a lot of meaningless points and scoring to win has a HUGE difference.

Lets take a little step back......just cause the mavs haven't had many greats play there, doesn't mean a pretty good player should have his # retired

Terry believes they can three peat which should make his jersey automatic retirement candidate along with Dirk. Don't forget he's been there a long time and has also been to the finals twice so if they win another ring in his playing days he's more than eligible for that. But they won't have it easy next season if they make it to the finals. Their opponent won't be Miami Heat.
