Saints let Bush test trade market

08:21 AM ET 06.18 | The New Orleans Saints gave running back Reggie Bush permission in February to talk to other teams and gauge his value as the franchise and Bush tried to work out a restructured contract, according to three NFL sources. Bush and agent Joel Segal were told that a number of teams would be interested in paying him handsomely, or at least more than the Saints have apparently been willing to offer at this point. That is one of the reasons that Bush has made contradictory statements about his future in New Orleans and didn't participate in offseason workouts with Saints players. The expectation from Bush, according to the sources, is that he will be playing for another team next season.

Good because Reggie has never been used correctly by the Saints. Dude lost any chance for greatness the day Payton drafted him. Great coach but his model is bad for Reggie. Id be pissed to be decoy too.

Yeah I agree. I'm not sure if Reggie is all that good, but he could be a factor will another team. One thing in his favor is that he is a good receiver coming out of the backfield and has the speed to go one on one with any defensive player.

Bush was way overated and never had the size and speed to be a go to runner. If he did, the Saints would have used him more. I think he was a huge disaappointment and its the Saints who want to part ways not Reginald Von Screw every body up.

Reggie has "Great" speed (he is a little undersized for a running back) and is a very good receiver coming out of the backfield and IMO will help some teams!!!

It took Reggie almost three seasons to learn he wasn't the fastest guy on the field , like he had been in college and before. He was usually pretty good on swing passes when he could get one on one with linebacker, but he had a hard time running out of the backfield. He lost yards countless times trying to cut back and reverse his field. Finally, he caught on and started to blast the hole, putting his head down and getting what he could. Then his lower body couldn't take the beating. Sean Payton has used him as well as he can be used, and the NEw Orleans fans have always cheered him. He would be a fool to leave.

as a saint's fan i'd hate to lose reggie. dangerous weapon on offense and on the return. payton knew exactly how to use him. he obviously doesn't have the size to be an every down back. people who say he was a bust have no idea. we wouldn't have a championship without him.

With the arrival of Mark Ingram, Reggie Bush will see the field even less than before. No way would I pay him his current salary to be a situation back.

Not so on size. Always been a silly argument cause the 3/4 greatest backs of all time were all about Reggies size. Barry, Emmitt and Payton. Add to that Gale Sayers, Westbrook, Warrick Dunn, Sproles, Jones-Drew, Thurman Thomas ........ He needs the ball 15-20 times a game and he would be fine as a feature. I can't remember him ever getting the feature chance.
