Yankees eyeing Cubs pitcher?

08:43 AM ET 06.18 | If the Yankees decide to add pitching before the trade deadline, there are a couple of arms that could help in the other dugout at Wrigley Field. Carlos Zambrano is the sexier name, but the Cubs right-hander has a truck load of emotional baggage, not to mention $27.25 million and two years remaining on a contract. And he is only 5-4 with a 4.59 ERA in the NL. More appealing to the Yankees is 34-year-old Ryan Dempster, who will start against the Bombers today in what amounts to an audition.

There are plenty of available pitchers - Scott Kazmir, Victor Zambrano, Oliver Perez, Kevin Millwood, Kei Igawa, Sidney Ponson and Chin-Ming Wang come to mind.

I think Cashman stated " there are guys you could get any day of the week, but you are only getting someone else's problem."
I don't think he wants to tie up payroll in those guys. CJ Wilson becomes FA next year. That one I can see.

Got to agree with Cashman's thinking there. Do you want a guy just for the sake of getting someone or do you want someone who you're sure can help you, not just you think can help you. The problem with that of course is to get a guy you're sure can help you, you have to really give something up and the Cubs aren't going to give Zambano away. Dempster on the other hand probably won't cost much but what are you really getting?

Every team needs starting pitching. Every one of them. Usually, what is available is not worth getting.

Why not Pedro while ur at it? Yankees resorting to their old ways, throw money at the problem & it will go away.
Can anyone name a yankee prospect they developed lately besides Gardner & Joba? No, bc they trade them all away. They have no farm system. Thats why they have to trade for the best every year.

Are you serious? That's more like a list of washed up veterans, injury victims and MLB failures than a list of possible targets for the Yankees! Why in the world would the Yankees, with all the money they could ever need, pick through the FA garbage dumpster when they could acquire a top of the rotation starter such as Dempster or Zambrano?!

According to Wikipedia, Brien Taylor is currently 39 years old and works as a bricklayer with his father. According to financial records filed in a child support application, he makes $909 per month. He is the father of five daughters. Taylor still lives with his parents, at the end of a street named after him, in a two-story brick and frame house that he built using his signing bonus.
