08:22 AM ET 06.22 | Dan Bylsma sounded Tuesday like a guy who wouldn't mind coaching Jaromir Jagr, hypothetically. The Pittsburgh Penguins coach admits that he's intrigued by the possibility of the team adding a player of Jagr's caliber. The 39-year-old is eyeing a potential return to the NHL after spending three years in Russia and the Penguins are a possible landing place. "Hypothetically, you're talking about a guy who in his last year in the National Hockey League had 75 points," Bylsma said Tuesday at an availability for the NHL awards. "That's leading our team last year. That's an intriguing thing to think about -- a power-play guy, what you saw him do in the world championship against NHL-caliber players was nothing short of outstanding."

As was pointed out yesterday several times, hockey is a team sport. The Pens showed a lot of team ability after their best players were hurt last year. Jagr is not a team guy. His sweater ought to read "ME". He was a great player once, today not so much and he's about 40 years old. Unless he's willing to play for a whole lot less than he's been demanding for years, I'd forget about him.

Maybe Danny's looking for a father figure.

Said it all yesterday.

If the man wants to be a team player it may work. If not, don't bother.

Well it will be a thread tomorrow so be ready to say it again.

And, the plot thickens. Don't do it Pens. You'll regret it once JJ remembers what it's like playing in the NHL and stops putting forth an effort. If Crosby and Malkin are healthy, the Pens don't need to do anything except get ready for training camp.

Its being bandied about that JJ could sign for less than 2 million as long as he gets to get a room at Chez Mario...

What J.J doesn't know is that DWI is already on the waiting list...

I wonder if Sid will be able to actually grow a playoff beard this season if the opportunity presents itself?

June 22, 2011  10:21 AM ET

"Bylsma remembers playing with Jagr in NHL '94 when he was a kid."

Sid has his own place now.

Guess Mario didn't need a babysitter anymore.

Nah, just kidding Sid. I think it was a nice move on Lemieux's part to let Sid stay with him until he got settled.

Do I hope JJ signs a new deal with the KHL tonight, so we can be done with these, I need my daily Wild update.

He was a team player later in his career. Last 3 season with NYR he totaled 181 assists and was a good captain. He got way too much crap that was undeserved.

Nah, I'm not saying I want him on the team. Simply saying that he wasn't as selfish as he was earlier in his career.
