Dreaming of Reyes in pinstripes?

08:12 AM ET 06.23 | While the timing may seem to work, the idea is a pipe dream. Any conspiracy theorist who has pondered Mets shortstop Jose Reyes being fitted for Yankee pinstripes, either later this season or in the near future, can forget it. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman put an end to speculation Wednesday night. "That's just not going to happen," he said. Cashman gave a vote of confidence to Derek Jeter and the backup who is filling in admirably for him while he works to return from the injured right calf that landed him on the 15-day disabled list. "We have an everyday shortstop in Derek Jeter," said Cashman. ... "But we do need a setup man."

"Everyday" shortstop? If everyday includes two days off per week.

That would tie up an awefully lot of money at the short stop position unless Jeter retires.

I think it would be a great move by the Yankees. And it would give them someone who is used to the bright lights of New York

He'd be the best shortstop the Yanks have had in the last 5-6 years.

While Reyes is an exceptional player, he has pretty much been underachieving most of the time and now that he's going to be a free agent at the end of this year, all of a sudden he's a ball of fire. He's a guy that scares a lot of GM's.

But then the Mets would be down to Jason bay and Mike Pelfrey. They should hang on to Reyes like grim death.

They really should, he plays the game the way that citi was built. they should unload some of their overpriced "power" hitters and go on a speed and pitching yout movement, they should have good draft picks for the forseeable future.

NOOOOOOO!!! I just dont see anyone trading for a guy that they'd have to resign for a $100M. Reyes is talented, but unless the Mets win the lottery I dont see how they can afford to keep him.
Reyes will walk unless the Mets have a fire sale. Those damn yankees. :(

This will NEVER NEVER happen. this one you can bet the house on. As much as i dislike the mutts I do like Reyes if he played like this every season and not just on a contract season.
