Two lifelines keeping Ellis in Golden State ... for now

08:10 AM ET 06.23 | Golden State's new coach may have something to say about the team's roster. The Warriors have fielded numerous calls about Monta Ellis, and seem to be cautiously open to discussing the star guard's desire for a change of scenery. Such efforts have become increasingly difficult since the hiring of Mark Jackson as coach. Jackson wants to coach Ellis, and has become well aware that he has emerged as owner Joe Lacob's favorite player on the team. ... A recent conversation between the Warriors and Lakers centered around Lamar Odom and Shannon Brown going to Golden State for Ellis, but those talks went nowhere, sources said. The Bulls would become involved if they were willing to part with Joakim Noah, and Chicago executives have consistently balked at including him in trade talks for the past year.

So Kobe and Ellis in the same back court? Sounds like it would work....HA

Awesome. Bring in another guard that's allergic to defense.

I can't picture Noah getting traded from the Bulls. The executives should continue to balk.

As long as Noah works on his offensive game, I hope he stays.

I've got to be honest. I'm just glad that I don't have to hear "hand down, man down" and "Mama, there goes that man" until Marc Jackson's inevitable firing in a year and a half and he somehow finds work in television again.

The are going to pull something off but Ellis is not a true point guard; he scores a ton of points. Can you imagine Ellis and Kobe in the same back court? Andrew Bynum said "he wants to be more involved in the scoring next season", think that will happen with both Ellis and Kobe controlling the ball?

QUOTE(#9):

Ellis would work in LA. He can really help spread the floor w/ his shooting. Lakers lack of outside shooting killed them in the playoffs.

I agree to an extent, but Dallas just got hot at the right time and shot the ball extremely well. I still think that if LA closes games 1 and 3 the way that they should have it's a whole different series, but Dallas outworked and outplayed them when it mattered. A guy being able to hit an outside shot would have helped, but it wouldn't have stopped the Mavericks from catching fire offensively the way that they did.

Are you the odd man out, Bro?

June 23, 2011  09:43 AM ET

Since Dallas humiliated the Lakers with JJ, look for them to make a move to have some quick footed guard who can drive. The height is good. But Brown and Gasol cant be on the same team since that is the real behind the scene problem.

Trade Dirk for Monta would help Dallas get younger. Lets go!

I think it's a little early to start looking for Kobe's replacement. and I can't see Ellis and Kobe playing together. The Lakers would be better off with Curry, but apparently the Warriors want to keep him. Odom and Brown would be nice though.
