08:15 AM ET 06.23 | Jake Peavy and his batterymate provided an interesting sidebar to Wednesday night's game in Chicago. Peavy pointed to the mound after getting pulled in the midst of a sixth-inning jam, and he and catcher A.J. Pierzynski had words in the tunnel leading to the Chicago White Sox's clubhouse after the inning ended. Peavy was pulled after giving up a single to Jeff Baker that enabled the Cubs to cut the Sox's lead to 4-3. ... After the Sox's 4-3 win, Pierzynski and Peavy joked about and downplayed the incident, although manager Ozzie Guillen thought that a disagreement over a pitch might have caused the spat. "We'll we were talking about Alabama vs. Florida," said Pierzynski, a rabid Gators fan. "He has bragging rights because Alabama beat them the last couple times. That's about it. We're fine."

I like Peavy more than I did yesterday.

June 23, 2011  09:53 AM ET

Peavy should have simply punched the **** in the face. In fact, I think everyone should.

June 23, 2011  10:05 AM ET

Whats the big deal? This **** happens all the time in MLB. Who knows how this will affect the team, maybe it will finally light a fire under them and get them on a winning track again, or it could lead to an implosion as well.

I once heard someone say that if Pirzinsky was on the other team you hate him, and if he is on your team you still don't like him.

June 23, 2011  11:40 AM ET

perhaps peavy should pitch more often so he can regain he's confidence on himself!

June 23, 2011  12:07 PM ET

Good ****. Love this ****.

What? You think yelling **** at a pitcher leaving the game with a lead makes someone an ass?

Without knowing what happened PR, we do know that Pierzynski won that game with his 2 run triple.

You NEVER say anything to a pitcher when he's being removed from a game. He's already at least somewhat pissed & not really open to a discussion. You'll notice managers just take the ball & say nothing, even if the pitcher has just imploded and lost the game. Now after the game, that's a different beast entirely. This is not an unwritten, vague rule. Pierzinski is just an ass. He's lucky Peavy didn't put a ball or his fist in his ear. In the clubhouse, maybe he did.
