Vikes 'really, really, really' want Rice

08:01 AM ET 06.24 | The good news is Christian Ponder finally landed a veteran, Visanthe Shiancoe, for his "team" workouts -- the bad news is one of the guys he'd really like to see, Sidney Rice, may not re-sign with Minnesota. The Vikings really, really, really want to re-sign Sidney and I know they'll be competitive in the market place. I think they'll have a limit as to how much they'd spend, though. Rice only has been healthy for one season and that is a concern. Still, they know how good he is and how much they'd be hurting if he left. I think he's back in Minnesota. If not, they'd probably target a bigger wideout but most of the top guys, like Santonio Holmes or Braylon Edwards, will cost as much as Rice. If Michael Jenkins gets released by Atlanta, as expected, he could be an option but he's not a No. 1 WR.

Sid would look just fine in the same jersey motif of the guy tackling him in the picture

He would be a good fit in Dallas. I don't think it happens though.

Me either... but we are allowed to play pseudo GM's.
Hell - Jerry plays one in real life.

Send your resume to JJ. I have been reading your comments for a long time. Your team would be in better shape if Jerry would have been doing the same.

They said "Vikings," not "Minnesota." They could put Rice up in Whitey Bulger's old place just outside of LA.

Aw, c'mon, Sid! When my 3 year-old daughter tells me she really, really, really wants some more Little Pony Fruit Snacks, I typically give in.

Money may not be enough. I could see the Patriots in the hunt for this guy, or the Jets or Indy. If he gets Ring Fever, he's not going to be happy with the Vikes. And no matter what, he knows they've got no one to get him the ball right now.

Rice is one of the best FA receivers out there, so that thought has to be under The Hood.

No, Brady the quarterback. Brady Quinn, Medicine Woman, is not in the picture.

Unless Rice is the coup de grace, they're going to be at the markets mercy like everyone else looking to sign FA's.
Free Agents are going to make a killing when this lockout ends.

The Pats would rather sign a guy who is willing to take a bit less because he knows they will be in the playoff hunt every year. Good for them, because it helps their cap space, and they know they get a guy who is more interested in winning than just some guy who wants a big paycheck.
Suppose the top dollar bid for Rice comes from Al Davis. Does he take that? Or would he take a bit less to maybe go to the big one?
Still, I could see a bidding war for this guy, even among top-tier teams. If nothing else, The Hoodie doesn't want to see him on the Jets or Colts.

Minnesota doesn't need Rice. They need a healthy, dependable, WR.
