CJ2K prepared for prolonged holdout

08:02 AM ET 06.24 | Last year, under the threat of holdout, the Titans found common ground enough to bring back Chris Johnson. The situation will come to a head again this summer whenever the NFL lockout ends, and the solution is bound to be more complex. Johnson, set to earn just $800,000 in 2011, is preparing for a much more prolonged holdout if need be and remains committed to joining the game's highest-paid running backs, according to those who have been in contact with him. The idea of another "band-aid" deal, after three highly productive seasons, is not appealing to him, and a deal in the range of the $5 million per season extension Jamaal Charles signed with the Kansas City Chiefs last season isn't what he's thinking, either.

If he decides to sit out, the Titans are truly screwed.

Didn't he do a little whinning last preseason about maybe holding out for a new contract?

And you never whined? Go for it CJ!

June 24, 2011  08:38 AM ET

As much as I hate this sort of holdout thing, CJ freaking DESERVES getting his due.

I mean, it's not like he has contributed to his team like Fat Albert did in DC, but, still...

Get him drunk and get him a hooker. he'll be fine.

I can't believe he's ready to hold out before a new CBA is in place. He hust have been saving those pennies for a rainy day.

When you see what they offer their first-round draft pick and compare it to Johnson's salary, you will understand the problem.

Pay the man. If this team has a future, it sits squarely on his shoulders.

You seen his QB, Mel?

June 24, 2011  09:21 AM ET

On the heels of the lockout, he might as well hold out. He has a strong case for being paid really, really well.
