08:03 AM ET 06.24 | Ed Reed admitted he wasn't quite fully healed earlier this week in New Orleans, but another admission was also worthy of a headline in Baltimore. Reed admitted that he and other players wanted the Ravens to hire Rex Ryan as head coach instead of John Harbaugh. We have heard that some in the Ravens locker room were pulling for Ryan to get the job in 2008, but it's interesting that Reed would bring it up now. "[Ryan was] like a dad, like a brother, man," Reed [told ESPN]. ... "It hurt when he left. We knew he was a great coach. There was a reason why that defense was the way it was. I would play anywhere with Rex -- in a dark alley, on the street, in high school football, sandlot, anywhere -- because he makes it fun. He loves this game."

Hey, Ed, way to throw your head coach under the bus.

June 24, 2011  08:10 AM ET

Why would he come out and say this?

it's more the media taking a comment out of context and filling in between the lines....he makes a positive comment about one coach and the media assumes he means something negative about another coach...notice how the quote doesn't make any mention of Harbaugh....only that Reed likes Rex as a coach...

June 24, 2011  08:13 AM ET

It's kinda like if I were to say "I like Superman" and the media printed a report saying Loki hates Lex Luthor....

3 years down the road... water under the bridge.

Pretty certain Harbaugh knew it when he was offered the job...

Rex couldn't have made Flacco play better in the playoffs - that's been the issue the last three years.

June 24, 2011  08:14 AM ET

ultimately, it took so long for them to post this, I figured it must be a slow news day...so slow, they are making up news to fill up space on the website...

Otis... Are you trying to say Jim Zorn didn't help Flacco's development?

June 24, 2011  08:18 AM ET

Sounds to me that Ed Reed has a deep respect for Ryan. Nothing wrong with that.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST LEX LUTHER?

exactly....nothing, which is why I didn't say anything about him...the media invented it...

Deep and Subliminal...

That's where I plant the seeds of discourse.

Ed Reed misses the footbaths Rex used to give him.

June 24, 2011  08:33 AM ET

It's nice to have a Dad as without one, you're a ****.

Rex loves FOOTball!

True that, my man.

All us Jets fans know the last thing we need is a ball hawking safety. Attention Ed Reed, it isn't along ride up I95 to J-E-T-S land!

Nothing at all. You don't read enough about players respecting their coaches.
