Trustees may overhaul Ohio State oversight

08:21 AM ET 06.24 | In response to recent developments, significant changes are reportedly being discussed. Ohio State University might move its watchdogs out of the athletic department, where they are asked to ensure that athletes and coaches comply with NCAA regulations, and into a standalone office. "We want maximum objectivity," trustee Robert H. Schottenstein said Thursday while emphasizing that he was not criticizing current compliance efforts. In the wake of an ongoing scandal involving the football team, Schottenstein announced that school officials are considering a centralized compliance office that also would monitor OSU research and medical practices. Those are the university's largest compliance offices now. "It's possible we could go that way," said Schottenstein.

What this is about, folks, is a pre-emptive strike to show the NCAA "We've got things under control. This time. For real." in an effort to minimize any sanctions.

Funny how the tOSU folks "didn't want to criticize" the oversight committee. They have been doing such a good job, criticizing them would just be wrong!
