Kitna's rips motivate Cowboys LB

Bradie James' motivation to beat the Detroit Lions goes way beyond the obvious. James, Dallas' defensive captain, wants to send the Lions to their fifth-straight loss to also teach quarterback Jon Kitna a lesson. James is taking the game personally because of what he said were "classless" comments Kitna made in January after the Lions upset the Cowboys 39-31 in the regular-season finale. In an interview with a Seattle radio station a few days after the game, Kitna was asked to give Seahawks fans a playoff preview of the Dallas defense. Kitna, who began his career in Seattle, was happy to oblige, although he prefaced his comments by saying, "I have to be careful what I say because we play them again next year." Kitna then went on to say James was basically inept.

For a guy on a team that has done nothing good in a long time Kitna sure has quite the mouth.

To reiterate what I said yesterday before people take cheap shots at this guys religion and desire to win:

I am not sure Kitna is to blame. From what I have watched, Kitna has had a decent season, and is a warrior for what he puts up with while having no line. Can you imagine this season with Joey and this O-line. Kitna is a good quarterback. Give him some protection, he can be a great quarterback. Look at Jackson yesterday, and I doubt anyone would put Jackson near the elite QBs in the league. He was given time, and was rewarded with a healthy QB rating.

I dont understand all the Kitna haters. God forbid we have a QB that is confident and expects to win. Lets ridicule him for believing in his team. Lets make fun of the guy who has never once made an excuse, who is classy, a leader, and a role model to our kids. Oh the good old days, when we had fat, dope smoking WRs....

----- PW--- you didnt hear the call last year did you?
no he was talk **** on Brady James, saying that he was suprised that James was even in the NFL, and a bunch of other garbage. Kitna is a joke and he better say his prayers this Sunday because he will be getting up off his knees and back a lot this week

December 4, 2007  10:03 AM ET

yeah James is gonna be out there playing to show kitna why he's the defensive captain and Wade is going to allow James to go through the line a few times just to get a lick on kitna.

Do the Cowboys really need to get up to beat the Lions? The Lions are awful. They have no running game. They just lost their best receiver. They have no offensive line. Their offensive coordinator is insane. Their head coach should be coaching a JV team at a high school. They have no defense. Their record is very deceiving. They could be 0-12 right now and nobody in Michigan believes that they will win 1 more game. For the love of sports, FIRE MILLEN!

I can't wait to see Bradie James put this sheep on his****!! Baaaahhhh Baaahhhhhh. You better start praying Kitty, cause the Boy's are gonna bring fire and brimstone!!!

December 4, 2007  10:29 AM ET

Now every Cowboy wants to yammer. Why not leave the yammering to TO and let your play speak for you?

December 4, 2007  10:32 AM ET

I'm sorry but Kitna HAS a mouth. Over the past few weeks he has made comments about pretty much every team they have played. After the Giants beat them he trashes the Giants. With the Cowboys coming we are reminded of an even more stupid remark.

That does not mean he isn't a good player, and it certainly doesn't mean he is in a pretty bad spot up in Detroit, but he opens his mouth and only trouble comes out.

December 4, 2007  10:47 AM ET

I can't believe the ignorant crap Dallas fans are writing when they have TO on their team. How can you even talk about dumb statements and talks too much, etc. when you have fricking TO on your team...

December 4, 2007  10:49 AM ET

Kitna is simply waiting for GOD to tell him to shut his pie hole. Until then, he'll keep yappin'.

December 4, 2007  10:58 AM ET

What does ineptitude have to do with pro football?

Sincerely,
Matt Millen

If it takes an opposing QB to call you out as looking unmotivated and lost for you to perform, you have other problems. Dallas lost in a trap game last year. Kitna responded by saying the obvious. If you aren't going to play every down in the NFL, you deserve to be called out. James is the idiot. Why didn't he bring it that game instead? If James is so good, he should have not given Kitna room to talk to begin with. Most people commenting have no idea what Kitna said, and should not be commenting.

December 4, 2007  11:21 AM ET

Obviously what he said last year was true. He took advantage of the Cowboy Linebackers to lay 39 points down on their defense. The dumb part was talking about it afterwards. Nobody is arguing that what he said last year was not true, only that he should have shut up about it...
He may have done James a favor in the long run. If he took it to heart and improved his game, then the cowboys benefitted from it all.
ah well, it does make a game that did not have much interest for most football fans outside of home town fans a lot more interesting....

December 4, 2007  12:50 PM ET

No Roy Williams for the Lions. Kitna, boy, you in a heap o' trouble.

December 4, 2007  12:52 PM ET

Kitna should've shut his yap and keep it shut, no question, but I'd rather just see James lay the wood and not talk about what will be.

December 4, 2007  03:19 PM ET

People keep saying that Kitna doesn't talk much, but it's odd. I always see his name in the headlines because of something he said...
