08:07 AM ET 06.25 | Sidelined shortstop Rafael Furcal could return from the disabled list as a second baseman so rookie Dee Gordon can remain in the lineup, Manager Don Mattingly said. Mattingly said he and General Manager Ned Colletti have discussed the possibility of a position change for Furcal, who has played only 34 of his 1,414 career games at second base. Furcal has played second base in the Dominican winter league, but hasn't played the position in the major leagues since 2004.

Give him a pork chop and send him off to Kansas City.

Better cover him with lots of bubble wrap, because he's fragile...

furcal its a injury prone, best thing to do just use him as a pinch hitter to avoid farther damage to he's already weak body!!

Furcal, even when healthy, is very hit and miss. When he's hot, he can carry a team. When he's cold, he can sink the team's offense. Net, net, with the health issues and contract, he's a liability.

it seems as the twins pick the wrong time to cool off, if they really are serious about winning the pennant then they must concentrate on winning without any type of hesitation!!

i got the feeling that this dodgers team will replace their manager before the end of the season, he's record as a manager its too inconssistent plus all that problems with the owner and the litigations over the team, can the MLB be able to remove this greedy and money lover owner?

can the angels call up their prospect trout to help the team?

June 25, 2011  03:55 PM ET

Mattingley is in his first year as a major league manager, he hasn't even had time to be consistent.

You take that back! We dont make silly moves like the Mets, signing/trading for players past their prime. Furcal is getting older, & his fragile body cant handle playing SS.

If the Twins make any move, it would be for another SS & bullpen help. We have plenty of SP that most teams would be interested in, as well as some talented hitters (Thome, Kubel, Cuddyer rumored 2 b traded).

We have plenty of mediocre **** SP that most teams would be uninterested in, as well as some guys who used to be talented hitters before they got old, constantly injured or plateaued before they were as good as we thought they'd be (Thome, Morneau, Mauer, Young)

There. Fixed it for you.
