Vick's psychiatric report sealed

Three sealed documents may seal Michael Vick's fate. The documents filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Richmond, Va., include a memorandum on sentencing and a psychiatric report on the fallen quarterback. Vick's lawyers asked that U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson seal the sentencing memorandum because it included information from the psychiatric report. Hudson gave stiffer sentences to two of Vick's co-defendants than requested by prosecutors. Hudson sentenced Purnell Peace to 18 months and Quanis Phillips to 21 months last Friday. It was unlikely Vick will get less of a sentence than his co-defendants -- and could receive more if he was the leader of the enterprise based in Surry County, Va. -- unless he has helped prosecutors in undisclosed dogfighting investigations, Benjamin said.

I hope he gets 5 years on each count - and not served concurrently.
As Loki said, Like we need to see a psych report to know he's a psycho.

He will get a least one year but not much more... If you did not know he was off mentally... you are mental. Over 100 million dollars and you risk all of it to kill dogs... hello.

December 4, 2007  09:12 AM ET

Hmm get 5 years for each count. Not sure I agree with that. His report should be sealed as this is none of our business. The sad part is in our society one can commit a crime against a human and get less. Sad Sad Sad.

December 4, 2007  09:30 AM ET

Please reassure my fears that our tax money went to time and effort to conclude that this numchuk has psychiatric issues?

December 4, 2007  09:34 AM ET

BRSEE You made a very good point,it's sad that folks will take the murder of a animal more serious than the murder of a human being.Folks get murdered every day,I'm talking about vicious murders and you barely hear any outrage,it's just swept under the rug.Go Figure!

Amen Vee!!!!!!!!

December 4, 2007  09:54 AM ET

What do they mean..."could receive more if he was the keader of the enterprise." Of course he was the leader. Those other 2 knuckleheads couldn't buy a hot dog. Let alone a Pit Bull. He should get 2 years minimum. His suspension from the NFL is suppose to be at least as long as the sentence. That keeps him out of football for 4 years. Not much chance of a comeback. That's plenty time to learn to articulate in perfect english "would you like fries with that?"

December 4, 2007  10:19 AM ET

Vick is a idiot and I think everyone knows that by now.

December 4, 2007  10:56 AM ET

I think Vick is looking at 24-30 months. Word is that the prosecution is asking for more time, since apparently Vick is not being as cooperative as they think he should be. Vick is probably trying to save his own hide from being targeted by those he's supposed to be rolling over on.

Who determines what is humane? Who is to say that Vick is any worse than bull fighters, deer/bird hunters, etc.? I'm not one to argue which is better, drowning or getting shot, but both are pretty bad. In Houston, a man shot two MEN for allegedly robbing from his neighbor! Those MEN are dead, but where's all the hoopla? America needs to get it's priorities in order, or we will fall like every great civilization. A human life should be worth more than a dog's. I'm not condoning Vick's actions, but he has done a lot of good for PEOPLE in the Atlanta area. Not that his good cancels out his bad, but stop bashing the guy, he has enough problems without us tearing him down. People go to prison to rehabilitate. It sounds like a lot of two-faced individuals here just want to see him rot-independent of whether he pays his debt to society. Wake up people. If he MURDERED dogs, then hunters MURDER, slaughter houses MURDER, etc. It's not the intent, it's the end result: a dead animal. Vick's no more guilty than they. MURDER is a crime against a human.

**** A PIT BULL!! This country has its priorities screwed up. Do you all know there were laws in this country to protect animals before there laws to protect CHILDREN?????

Even now, we treat dogs as if they are family members. THEY ARE FREAKIN' ANIMALS PEOPLE. Furthermore - pit bulls eat children every day and there's no uproar over that. In fact, we blame humans for the insanity of these dogs.

How about this: Let's make sure our children are getting the education they need (equal under the law), regardless of their economic backgrounds. Make sure they have proper healthcare and protect them from predators and try to keep their fertile minds from being inundated with sexual innuendo and violence all day from media and video games. Until we're doing this as a country I could care less what happens to a pit bull.

over/under on the use of the term "sociopath"?

You make some good points, but you can't ignore what he did. You also have to remember that the police didn't even go to the house originally for dogs. They went for drugs because of his dumb **** cousins and they found the dogs. You make an argument, but I don???t' know how valid it is. If you are speeding and a cop pulls you over do you argue that everyone else is speeding or that somewhere in the county someone is being murdered so you should be there not giving me a ticket? If you commit a crime then you face the punishment. He should not get leniency because there are worse crimes out there.

December 4, 2007  11:26 AM ET

Oh, calm down with your insincere outrage, you Ingrid Newkirk disciples...

December 4, 2007  11:55 AM ET

lol TDP...nice

December 4, 2007  11:56 AM ET

Judge gave 18 & 21 months to the guys who took the plea deal.

Criminal prosecution is a bit like musical chairs, the last one is usually left without a seat. Vick is that person in this case...he'll get 21 at minimum as he was the last to finally own up and take responsibility for his crimes.
