Mack threatens Texas starters

Texas coach Mack Brown said Monday he told his players "all jobs are open" heading into the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl against Arizona State. "If kids didn't play with emotion, it's our job to get them out of there and get someone else in," Brown said. Brown said he was disappointed with his team's performance in a 38-30 loss at Texas A&M to end the regular season. He said his coaching staff is reviewing game films from the whole season to identify and eliminate the inconsistency that plagued the Longhorns (9-3), who struggled in all but three of their victories.

Sorry Mack....I think your days in the sunshine is over...you can return now to the guy that can't win the big games!

December 4, 2007  09:51 AM ET

I though Colt was the second coming....

December 4, 2007  09:56 AM ET

I think, and this is just my opinion and no offense to Longhorn Nation, but Mack Brown reminds me of Ron Zook.

Good recruiter, average game day coach.

December 4, 2007  10:00 AM ET

Not to play devil's advocate with ya fellow buckeye, but didnt that average game coach, get over on the fighting sweater vests this year?

December 4, 2007  10:04 AM ET

They didn't even play this year xxx84xxx

December 4, 2007  10:33 AM ET

I talking about the Zooker

December 4, 2007  10:37 AM ET

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...well then by all MEANS have at 'em!!!!!!!!!!

December 4, 2007  10:57 AM ET

He means well and his heart is in the right place, but on occassion becomes one of "those" buckeye fans....

December 4, 2007  11:22 AM ET

It's about time Mack lit a fire up under their rear ends. As far as I'm concerned, Mack owes Vince because if it wasn't for him, there wouldn't have been an extension. Mack is known as a players' coach, but it seems at times these Longhorns expect to win off talent alone. And that type of thinking leads to upsets.

December 4, 2007  01:37 PM ET

coach clapper is starting to get stern. thank god as a texas fan im tired of the guys playin with no emotion

December 4, 2007  03:02 PM ET

Ole Macky's back in town!

December 4, 2007  03:25 PM ET

Mack = ok coach
Vince = Football God
Mack + Vince = Miracle Seaon
Stoops = Mack + 50
OU = still sucks

December 4, 2007  04:04 PM ET

That's quite an equation you have formulated there smitty....OU grad are ya?

December 4, 2007  05:32 PM ET

All that talent and can't beat A&M? Yeah, I would say they lacked something be it emotions, good coaching, schemes aren't up to par, or your starting QB had a sophomore slump which goes back to coaching.

December 4, 2007  06:55 PM ET

Your not gonna win many games when your D Coor is pissn down his own leg every week...

December 4, 2007  07:00 PM ET

That's right, Mack...blame it on the starters. Distract from disappointing seasons by bragging about a top three recruiting class every year. Keep stalling and eventually maybe you'll get another VY to save your sorry ###.

personally, as a Sooner I hope you stick around a long, long time:
Is it five of the last seven or six of the last eight? I can never remember...

December 4, 2007  07:08 PM ET

5 of the last 7

December 4, 2007  07:08 PM ET

or 6 of the last 8 what?

December 4, 2007  08:18 PM ET

Officer, Sooners defeated Texas 6 of the last 8 meetings. But who's counting...

I'm just being difficult.

I remember how frustrated a lot of Longhorn fans were with Mack before VY came along. Seems like be bought himself a contract extension through Vince's efforts, and I'm not sure he (Mack) is worth it.

ps. Often when you see guys playing without emotion it's an indication that they have lost faith in the coaching staff. The head coach yelling at them doesn't generally improve matters.

Really Sooner_Girl? Must have explained your 55-19 loss to USC for the 2004 season.
