08:16 AM ET 06.27 | Derek Jeter probably didn't spend his birthday the way he'd hoped. [Jeter] spent his 37th birthday Sunday working out in a batting cage in Tampa for the second straight day. He told The Associated Press he "hopefully" will start a running program Monday or Tuesday, but still won't commit to a target date to resume his pursuit of 3,000 hits. "You've got to run. Once you start running, then we'll have a better sense," said Jeter, who's been on the DL since June 13 with a strained right calf. "If it was up to me I'd be playing now, but you have to be smart." Jeter also was slated to take grounders on the grass in front of the infield dirt but didn't because of rain.

Nice weather? Where? Where? We've had rain on and off (mostly on) for the last 5 days over here, though the sun did finally peak out late in the afternoon. But all in all the weekend still was pretty good.
