USC has a new fastest player

08:19 AM ET 06.28 | USC reportedly hosted its annual 40-yard dash timing Sunday afternoon. All healthy players -- both scholarship guys and walk-ons -- ran the drill, and freshman cornerback Ryan Henderson recorded the fastest time of any of the Trojans' 100-plus players, an electronically-timed 4.40. The stopwatch USC staffers used timed his run in the mid 4.3's, but the 4.40 is the final number. For comparison's sake, that electronic time would have tied for third-best among all cornerbacks at the 2011 NFL Combine earlier this year. A 5-foot-10, 170-pounder, Henderson was the first-ever SPARQ national champion last year, an award used to determine the nation's top high school football athlete. He ran a reported 4.34 40-yard dash at that event in Oregon last July.
