I am not criticizing, I just have a question. I don't understand the logic of "drafted in the right spot." As I see it, every team has a #1 pick. It does not matter who else was picked ahead of your pick, that person is gone. You can only pick from who remains. So, even if you have the 3rd pick, there may be no "3rd pick quality player" remaining if the draft is weak. You still can pick someone. Whoever you pick, it is *your* first pick, so . . .. Why should I care if my first pick could have been picked 10th--I don't have the 10th pick, I have the 3rd. Do I pick no one because there are 6 teams behind me who would not pick this player, and there's no one else I'd want to pick?

His life situation seems to be oxymoronic. Anyway, if I hear his name during the season then dude must be a baller.

i'm guessing the over/under on how many times he hears he broke someone's bracket is 250

Rodman came out of nowhere and had a great career. Not saying Faried will be Rodman but from everything I have seen of him his hustle is definitely going to win over some fans.

This whole argument about being picked in the right spot is flawed...

Was David Lee picked in the right spot? Athletically and skill wise this guy should have been picked even lower (as many draft boards actually had him), but his determination and work ethic got him to where he is.

On the other hand I never understood why Michael Redd was drafted as low as he was. The only knock on him was his size.

My theory is, that in the lottery you want to hit a home run. So you draft players who have the physical gifts and you believe can grow athletically and skill wise. Later on in the first round tactics vary much more. Some select more for experience, some still want to find that diamond to be polished, and then some select one dimensional guys, because they think their teams need that particular skill set.

Faried is a rebounder, and Denver needed a monster boards guy. This seems to be a match made in heaven... Too bad we wont be able to test this theory for quite some time as I fear the lockout is going to be even longer than in 1998...

I guess my question was this: if I am picking 3rd, that's it, that's my pick in the first round. If I don't want anyone on the board, I can try to trade the pick. But, if I am going to pick anyone higher than the allegedly 33rd best player, I have to pick now. By my thinking, therefore, a team should not be laughed at for "reaching," picking a player 5 spots, say, above where the "geniuses" think the person should go. The team has only four options: 1)trade the pick (if possible), 2)pick no one, 3)pick the person now with their first opportunity or 4)hope the person will still be around 30 picks later, in the second round.

I guess there is one more option; one could pretend to be disorganized, and let a few other teams pick ahead of you, then rush the stage and try to make your pick. Of course, this would look really stupid, especially if one of those teams picks the person you planned to pick.

Fantastic rebounder. Saw both of his NCAA tourney games live. He jumps high and reaches the apex of his jump so quickly, in that way, he reminds me of Shawn Marion. He's a good defender, not a great defender. He offers zero NBA offense. I think he can be an end of the rotation guy from the start, pretty good value for his draft location. He has upside too depending on his defensive ceiling and ability to improve his offense. Becoming a starter over the next several years will be tough but not out of the question.

Who cares what his religion is, or what his parents sexual preference is? Grab some boards and I will cheer for him.
