Red Sox didn't earn an All-Star appearance

08:14 AM ET 07.04 | Once told CC Sabathia wasn't heading to the All-Star Game, not even John Lester could muster strenuous objection to his own "snub." Despite everybody on the Red Sox sounding stunned that everybody on the Red Sox is not going to Phoenix, there really was not one case of snub that would not be thrown out of court -- kangaroo, Judge Judy's or otherwise. Sure, [Lester], Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, Jonathan Papelbon and Daniel Bard are having terrific years and have every right to be disappointed they are not going. But if everyone were to take off their Red Sox-colored glasses for just a second, they might realize that the "snubbed" Red Sox would have to take a number and get in line behind some pitchers and players who have a real gripe. Like [Sabathia] of the Yankees.

What does this say about Yankee pitching when the Yankee "ace" cannot make the All-Star team? And, no Red Sox either? Cry me a river on both counts. Both ought to not be such tight wads and spend some money.

Ron Washington is back on the crack. Somebody take his keys.

C.C. will get in on the fan vote this week.

When did hitting around .270 become having a " terrific year?" ( Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis).

Only a fool would take the All Star selections seriously ( and the agents who put it in contracts). It is just a show, that is all. They have expanded the rosters to the point of ridiculous as it is.

And then to tie World Series "Home Field" to the game, compounds the stupidity.

Yes it does. A gimmick to try to get interest in a show game. Dumb.

As a Sox fan I would much rather see Youk, Pedroia, Bard and Pappelbon stay home and get refreshed for what is going to be a tough 2nd half of the season.

Jeter does not belong there. But that is the system. Players know better. Ya just can't take any of it seriously. Could be worse, when I was a kid they played this game Twice a Summer.

If Jeter were smart he should just bow out. Coming back from an injury and all, it's the last thing you would think the team wants.

nobody in Boston thinks those players should be in the All Star game

C.C. doesn't belong at the All-Star game and frankly David Price, C.J. Wilson and Felix Hernandez shouldn't be there either.

Instead of those 3, Michael Pinaeda, Ricky Romero and Dan Haren should be there. All 3 are having better years with lower ERA, lower WHIPs and more quality starts. Philip Humber should be in the mix too as should Alexi Ogando. He's having a better year than Wilson yet Wilson gets the preferential treatment from Washington??? Ridiculous.
