NFLPA lawyers wielding too much power?

08:00 AM ET 07.05 | Quite a bit of legalese is wrapped around the idea, but some believe the NFLPA's lead attorneys are becoming a destructive force -- on purpose. [What] has become clear is Jeffrey Kessler and Jim Quinn are wielding far too much power, and they are using that power, in my opinion, to push their own agendas instead of the agendas of the players. ... Owners believe -- and I think they're correct -- the two men want to delay a settlement as long as possible so they can propel the Brady antitrust lawsuit to the brink. If this happened, an entire season would likely be lost and the sport plunged into chaos. Once that occurred, the players could push for an antitrust verdict in their favor that could reach billions. If this happened, the players would then own a part of the NFL.

This is what everybody with a sound mind was warning about at the outset of this fiasco. When the lawyers come in, the civility and levelmindedness leave - and it ends being about football.

"If this happened, the players would then own a part of the NFL."
And I'm sure some of them are salivating at that.
... of course, if this drags on too long, there might not even be an NFL anymore...

this is real simple. it is far easier to replace players than owners in the league. everyone in this country has been hit hard by the economy. the lawyers will lose site of this and have a scorched earth policy to get their side a victory.......then none of us win.

I said it months ago, once the lawyers get involved no one wins, not the owners, not the players, all the money they are fighting over will go to Lawyer fees. It is definitely in the lawyers interest to draw this out as long as possible , create as much animosity between the sides, and file as many suits in as many courts as possible. Even after the CBA they will be reaping (raping) both sides tying up loose ends. The Judge in Minneapolis warned both sides they would not like the courts settlement. (that started these present negotiations)

Lawyers can eventually make anybody look good (or at least better). Pretty soon Goodell and the owners won't be as disgusting.
