Hart tears ACL, Tide left thin at RB

08:17 AM ET 07.07 | Thankfully, Trent Richardson avoided injury last week (in a hit-and-run accident). Dee Hart, the freshman pegged as the next great Crimson Tide running back, wasn't so lucky. Word leaked Wednesday, as first reported by Bama Online, that Hart tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a 7-on-7 passing drill. This sounds like a season-ender. Riki Smith, Hart's high school running back coach, told The Orlando Sentinel the goal is for Hart to return in seven to 10 months. ... Alabama is currently looking at three scholarship running backs for 2011: Richardson, Eddie Lacy and Jalston Fowler, plus other roster shakeups it could make. That's not a bare cupboard. But it's not as tantalizing as it once looked to be, either.

Of course, UF would gladly switch RBs with Wisky and RBs are the strength of the UF offense right now.

Saban can always go out and buy another one.

Lacy's going to be a very good running back even on SEC standards. He just needs to protect the football better. The guy is a mack truck that is fast, though.

He doesn't have as much money as Michigan, though, which surprised me since we beat out Michigan for Hart.

A case of the fumbles will land you in the dog house quick.
Does Bama have a quick little WR that could be the change of pace guy?

I'm sure they can find some quality walk-ons.

I hope he doesn't go the way of Robert Elliot at MSU. The guy showed flashes his freshman year, and then tore his ACL against LUS. He hasn't been the same since. This spring, he looked to have some of that speed he showed as a freshman.
Here's hoping that Hart recovers and looks as good as he did during the spring game. Is Saban now sick about that RB that just transferred out?

I was just thinking that Bama would have some one who could take 5-10 carries as a change of pace guy. UF has a ton of them.
Saban and that old OC have shown they are willing to be creative in formations based on the talent available. Are Sims or McCarron dual threat guys?

As opposed to sticking with a system that doesn't fit the players? Is that a barb you are throwing at last year's Gators OC there BSB?
