08:40 AM ET 07.09 | Carlos Beltran wants to get back to the postseason. He just might get there this year with the Giants, but he continues to hope the Mets make a run at meaningful games. Beltran was in right field at AT&T Park for the Mets last night, but when general manager Sandy Alderson decides to back up the truck and start trading, the Giants will be one of the teams interested in Beltran, according to multiple sources.

Giants need a bat or two, but the magic probably ain't happening this year. So many things went right last season, it will be hard to repeat.

the giants wish will become true, after all beltran will become free agent and the mets won't resign him, best thing to do trade him get some good prospects and move on!!

I hope Beltran goes to LF because I don't think his knees could handle RF at ATT.

July 9, 2011  12:48 PM ET

Yes, because the Giants don't have enough outfielders as it is....

Except none of them can hit the ball off a tee.

i'm surprise that the yankees aren't trying to trade for beltran, i thought they were weak on the outfield, but there most be a reason why they aren't trying to do such move!!

Schierholtz - .280

Ross - .275

Rowand - .238

Torres - .233

Burrell - .238

While not tearing it up, wouldn't reduce them to tee ball levels either. Giants need a catcher, shortstop and a second baseman more than another outfielder. It will be another month before Sanchez gets back.

Time to shave the BEARD Wilson. The mets gave Wilson a beaten

When was the last time Sabaen made a move to get a big bat? I dont see SF doing anything that drastic. It's gonna take the Mets eating most of his salary to move him anywhere.

Not tearing it up? Really?

He got Pat the Bat. What more do you want?

The Giants are toast, no repeating as World Champions. It's all Phillies this year......

0.280 and 0.275 is mediocre. 0.238 and 0.233 is horrible. Yes, the Giants have other needs as well, but they definitely need to upgrade their outfield. Ross (playoff heroics aside) isn't a long-term solution and is often injured. Schierholtz has no power.

I can't argue so far, but the Phillies have a long way to go before you talk about being a World Champion

July 9, 2011  07:19 PM ET

Giants have absolutely nobody to trade for. Thanks but no thanks.

July 9, 2011  07:39 PM ET

if I where the Mets I would jump at it, get rid of Krod too

We need for one of our rookie outfielders to step up or go ahead and trade for a right handed OF.

Mostly, I look forward to next year when we dump Ibanez and Oswalt' salaries. $16 million combined and not much to show for it.
