09:49 AM ET 07.09 | Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi, contending the Edmonton Oilers have twice traded him players -- most recently Colin Fraser -- who are not able to play, said Friday he will "look at our legal avenues" to get a remedy. "The bottom line for me, I would have rather invested my money with Bernie Madoff than invest in Edmonton's word," Lombardi said.

The red droid had a bad motivator, so they'll end up taking the little blue R2 unit...
It was a BeeEss trade to move Smyth home, and shed some cap. Why get all worked-up about it? Take a second-rounder or something, and be done with it. Sheesh.
You would think that, going into the off-season (with the media hawking for every last scrap of dirt) that an experienced GM would know to play his cards closer to his vest, and learn to keep his yap shut.

You're right. If Dean Lombardi failed to have his team Doctor look into a player's health matters before agreeing to a trade, the joke's on him. He's guilty of gross negligence.

...Focus on signing Drew Doughty, Dean. That's the ticking bomb you really need to defuse.

You're exactly right. Sign Doughty! He should be thanking his lucky stars he was able to dump Ryan Smyth's contract, which is what he wanted. Now he has the money to sign Drew. Git 'er done!

It was more the legal aspect of these players' status, and why wouldn't Lombardi know? If these guys are unusable, how about Brad Richards? or Sid, for that matter.

With a team that has been bad as the Oilers have been lately, you should trade for their draft picks not their players. Lombardi was fooled twice. To paraphrase the old adage, shame on you, Mr. Lombardi.

I remember back when the N.Y. Yankees used to trade players with the old Kansas City As and fleece them every time. Some never learn.

The Oilers need to strike back!
Time to offer Doughty that 10-year $75 million offer sheet.
The Kings will match, but it will screw up their cap situation for years to come. If the don't match, which is unlikely, you get one of the games best at a price of only two firsts, a second, and a third.
