11:11 AM ET 07.09 | Is it Chris Leben or Stephan Bonnar? Top ten welterweight fighter Josh Koscheck recently revealed via Twitter that he's requested from the UFC a fan service fight at middleweight and most believe that it will come against either one of his TUF season one castmates.

Really, Stephan Bonnar? That doesn't even make sense to even try to speculate if it's true. Bonnar isn't 185lbs and Kos isn't going to gain enough weight to be 205.
Leben? Maybe, but that doesn't make sense either. Leben just beat Wanderlei. Fighting Kos means nothing if he wins.

This could be interesting and may mark the beginning of more catch weight fights, which will draw ticket sales and subsequent interest from the heyday of this sport when there were no weight classes. As long as were not talking heavy vs. light, it makes business sense without an extreme advantage one way or the other.

If it's a one off, then a catch-weight fight might be cool. Given Dana White's insistence that his fighters make the weight classes he's determined, it'd be a long shot. I agree that neither fighter mentioned has much to gain by beating Koscheck, except for the purse and the chance to win a nightly bonus.
The ONLY thing I miss about PRIDE (except maybe for the Japanese style ring entrances and introductions) was their fondness for great one off fights. PRIDE did a good job of setting up fights that were fan favorites, even if they didn't necessarily impact their title rankings. I think UFC should bring in some of these types of fights to keep the undercard interesting.

the problem with that is that MOST of the fighters that have fan's interest in these fights are title holders and they need to be actively defending their titles rather than defending through inactiviity in their own division....there was enough of that BS when Penn defended his title by taking 15 months away from the LW division while holding the LW title and making everyone wait...Had Penn been defending his title, he might have lost it to someone like Edgar sooner and then Edgar might have lost it to someone else and so on....the biggest hinderance right now is that the important fighters will only fight so often and there is no time for interesting but ultimately useless/meaningless fights. It's bad enough that we have to wait for title holders taking almost a year off for surgery....we don't need to add in time off to go fight someone that has NO bearing on the actual title picture. Hendo vs Fedor has fan interest but will mean nothing...and aren't there ANY LHWs in SF that want a title shot? Shouldn't they get a chance at the LHW title holder before some washed up HW that is looking for an ego boost after 2 bad losses?

You would think someone writing a piece for Fightline would know something about UFC.
Bonnar was a light-heavyweight on the show and still is...Leben was a middle-weight and still is...while Koscheck was a middle weight on the show but dropped to welter-weight.
Neither Leben nor Bonnar has any reason to fight a punk going nowhere like Koscheck.
He's deluded if he thinks he has any fans.
GSP exposed him as the less than mediocre fighter that he is. Koscheck is all mouth, no talent, no heart, no toughness.
Then again...it would be nice to see Leben beat the living snot out of the idiot.

?? BOTH Leben and Bonnar would gain enormous standing if they were to beat Koscheck. He is a top 10 fighter. I am NOT a Kos fan, I enjoyed watching him get his eyes beat in as much as anyone, but he didn't fight for the championship by accident. The only person who gains nothing is Kos. Leben just beat an over the hill Silva, and Bonnar has always been a gatekeeper. If they could beat a real top 10 fighter, they would be getting somewhere big.
Kos? He gains nothing by winning against either fighter.
Come on now, don't let your hatred of a fighter cloud your view of his skill.

Koscheck is a tool. I wouldn't mind seeing Leben knocking his head completely off his neck. But knowing Kos, he'd fake like he got hit in the eye and cry to the ref

Say what you will about Kos, but the guy fights. He fights on short-notice, he fights on the free TV shows (for the troops--means a lot to us), and he fights who Dana asks him to fight (except of course his gym teammates). I seriously hope some of you sending out the hate do realize that he plays up being the villian to hype his fights....he is actually a very good fighter, and his losses have been to some of the best in the business. The Bonnar fight makes absolutely no sense, but based on his history with Leben on TUF, and his penchant for playing the villian, I could see Dana and crew making that fight happen. Although, I would kind of like to see Kos fight Jake Shields.
