Dempster upset with Cubs manager

08:39 AM ET 07.10 | Ryan Dempster was the first and perhaps the loudest Cubs player to lobby last September in support of Mike Quade, who was auditioning for the full-time managerial job. But before the top of the sixth inning of the Cubs' 6-3 win over the Pirates at PNC Park, Dempster began a shouting match with Quade after being told he was being lifted for a pinch-hitter. Dempster could be seen yelling "No way, no way" after being told of the decision as he entered the dugout, and walked away from Quade after the manager tried to talk to him. He slammed down his glove and cap, and some Cubs players went into the tunnel after him.

Dempster wasn't exactly mowing them down and his pitch count was gettig up there. I thought it made sense to pinch hit for him.

I feel badly for Cubs fans, the team is run so poorly and the fans have no hope of winning any decade soon.

Dempster ain't the only one upset with the Manager, lol!!! Nothing against Quade, but Cub fans were expecting continuing improvement, like the end of last season, not almost 20 games under. This sucks, Hendry sucks, Quade sucks worse and they need to trade Demp because we need some value from him whilst he still has some!!!

Maybe, if you're 10-3 at this point and you're team in is first or second place.... well, this wouldn't happen....... But if you have a 5+ ERA, you're record is .500, and your team is hopelessly under .500, maybe you should just shut up and play.

A good manager will gain you 3-4 wins during the year. If you're 20 games under .500, it's not the manager.

Well, since you bring it up - it extends to the management of the pitching staff. Defense wins games, offense helps, errors and mis-management lose them. They should have brought in Ryno!!! No offense to the players, but when they petition publicly for a particular person, their personas may prevent proper procedures being parlayed into procuring the pre-imminent hire, probably a loser and maybe a POS ;)

dempster has temper and the best thing to do its just play the game whenever its he's turn to play after all there its nothing that he can do about this passive manager!!!

Malarkey such as " A good manager will gain you 3-4 wins during the year" is just more MLB baloney. The value of the intangibles of baseball are not knowable. Dopey sayings devalue managers and are designed to remind the talent who runs the circus. In NO other business would management consistently devalue players / managers in public and expect to make money or grow a franchise. Perhaps the trust helps?
The Cubs are a ball club in the truest sense. They do their best and are lovable losers. The monopoly of sports works here. Like Green Bay, the team matters beyond money.
MLB deserves its neanderthal owners and now umpires. Only a monopoly could run this poorly.

The Cubs just don't seem to have many players right now, can't blame Quade for that. I half wonder if the Cubs' brass weren't too excited about having Ryno manage in the majors and this was a way to tick him off and get him to leave the organization. Sandberg seemed to be a hell of a nice guy as a player, but that isn't always a great quality in a manager.

You didn't get any respect when you visited Kenosha? Oh well, better for you to stay in Wrigleyville then.

Sorry, magicmarkie, I haven't been to Kenosha, but I'm sure I saw you at the Pride parade bobbin' up and down on the K-Y float.

You have quite an imagination but the only thing that is probably true is that you were at the gay pride parade.
