Rockies won't swing for fences

08:07 AM ET 07.11 | Injuries and a few keynote slumps have been a drag on Colorado's season, but don't expect the Rockies to make a splashy trade. Trade-deadline deals may be interesting to speculate about, but they don't usually make sense. At least to Rockies owner Dick Monfort. "Not really," said Monfort, when asked if he anticipated the Rockies swinging an impactful trade by the end of the month. ... "We've all seen teams go out and get something and pay a heck of a lot in the way of talent. We've got that talent coming up through our organization. We just can't afford to give away a lot of talent for a guy who's got two months left and then he's a free agent. So I don't see any really huge deals."

Outside of a couple players, the Rockies are having a below average season. Why would you add payroll??
