Nets to pitch Kidd to 3 teams

A source told The Post the Nets were planning to talk to the Mavericks, Lakers and maybe Cavaliers about possible deals for Jason Kidd. Kidd was angered when the club refused his agent's request for a one-year, $13 million extension, and he publicly ripped the team for having a "glass jaw" after a blowout loss last month in Utah.

I've always felt the Nets made a HUGE mistake in re-signing Vince Carter. He's alot like Dominique Wilkins: very exciting offensively, but brings little else to the table. He doesn't play defense and he is poor in the clutch. The East is still inferior in comparison to the West, and for the Nets to be mediocre is saying something!!! With Andrew Bynum playing so well, there is NO WAY the Lakers will trade him for J-Kidd. Maybe Lamar Odom for Kidd straight up, but I don't think the Lakers have to get give up much to obtain an effective, but aging point guard. I've liked Kidd ever since he was in college at the University of California, but I'm amazed that shooting is STILL his biggest weakness.

Odom, Crittenton and Rad to Nets for Kidd and Malik Allen or Josh Boone

Then the Lakers deal Kwame and a 2nd rounder to Sac for Artest

wow djrox....if thats all it takes then the Mavs should ship Ager, Barrea and Hassell for Kidd...idiots

It would be great if the Lakers got a hold of Kidd. But the Lakers need a forward more than any other position and should be concentrating on that first and foremost.

The Mavs could use a point guard like Kidd, especially since Terry's been more erratic this year than he has previously.

But I think the Cavs need him most. The Cavs have to get someone to go with Lebron if they ever want to be taken seriously as a championship contender in the league. However, there's salary cap issues there.

All in all, of the three, Cleveland needs him most, but I see him going to Dallas more than LA or Cleveland. (Although LA MIGHT just be willing to add another guard to their roster, and it wouldn't be a bad choice at all.)

Of all the teams mentioned, I see him coming to Dallas the most. I don't think that the Lakers will get him because they really need help in the frontcourt, and I doubt that Cleveland will get him because they are in the same conference and that wouldn't help the Nets, so that leaves Dallas. And if he does come to Dallas, I might be tempted to watch one of their games!

Nets should hold onto Kidd for a little longer. They nearly dealt him last year at the deadline and in the end it proved to be a good move that they held onto him (even if they did only make it to the 2nd round). Give the team time, they've turned things around before after slow starts. Coming from a Nets fan, it may be bias but watching him turn this franchise around the way he did, I hate to think about the Nets trading his guy.

Nets should shop Carter, he seems to be the problem. After getting his contract in the offseason it doesn't seem like this guy is playing with any passion at all. He isnt doing much to help the team right now and considering his past playoff failures I say try to unload him.

They cant get much for Carter

Kidd PLAYED for Dallas and is from Cali=He will retire to his home state and play with Kobe

I think I'd take Kidd and Malik Allen over Josh Boone.

How come Kidd's history of burning bridges (going back to his Cal days) NEVER gets mentioned.

Who does Cleveland have to trade?
Not Larry Huges. Nets won't have any interest in him, not at his salary at least.

LA could probably get Kidd for Critt, Vlad and Brown (expiring contract)

Dallas could probably get him if they trade Harris and a first round pick and Van Horn's expiring contract.

I don't think the Lakers will end up with him... before Fish came back, yes, but not now,..unless the were willing to let him go for Odom, and maybe one of our other point guards,...

Would be nice for a change, however brief, as his expiration date is
about up....

kidd in cleveland would be great but they dont have anything to give up. Any trade would have to include our only true 3 point shooter boobie gibson I fear.

December 8, 2007  04:24 PM ET

I like tippers idea. But I don't think anyone wants Vlad Rads (aka shawn white) contract. he's retarted! plus I think they have to pass medical & kwame might be out for the season. he re-injured the same ankle as last year only worse; and the knee went too. basically that leaves the nets with Critton for kidd and they aren't doing that deal.

December 8, 2007  04:28 PM ET

You cant blame Kidd for being frustrated ,he just wants to play hard and win. The problem is Frank ! He has no clue how to coach and motivate this team. There is talent there and a good coach is needed.

December 8, 2007  05:12 PM ET

Well we know he's not going to the mavs cause they dont keep alot of old guys stackhouse is enuff an he can produce points an not injury prone Kidd gets injured. If he goes 2 L.A the nets may want Andrew Bynum and knowing Phil he's not gonna giv him up. That leaves the cavs who hav alot of scoring guards but no real point guard the cavs would most likely need Kidd more.

I do agree that the lakers need a forward more then a guard.I like the Odom/kwame for Artest deal.Artest gives you offense and great defense.Odom does not.Period.

while i disagree about frank having no clue how to coach, i do agree that maybe its time for the nets to look for somebody to replace him...... i dont see him as a championship level coach
