Bears would only have interest in discount Burress

08:01 AM ET 07.13 | Plaxico Burress could hardly stop gushing about Chicago on a Tuesday radio appearance. While [Burress] thinks he would be a great fit in Chicago, multiple sources have told the Sun-Times that the Bears would only be interested in the former New York Giants playmaker at a bargain basement price, if at all. ... While Burress would seem to fit the Bears need of a bigger, playmaking receiver, he was recently freed after serving almost two years for carrying an unlicensed gun after accidentally shooting himself in the leg in a New York night club. As if character concerns, inactivity and his age (he turns 34 next month) weren't enough to worry about, Burress is not known for running the type of precise routes required in offensive coordinator Mike Martz's offense.

#1 feels so good. Plax go back to NYG if you have the option. Eli is a better QB than Jake the Quitter.

Plax isn't getting anything other than a heavily incentive-laden contract from whoever he signs with.

Aint going to be the Bears...

Amen to that, O!! Follow da MONEY!!!

No team is going to take him other than on the cheap. With that said, now watch the Raiders and Redskins get in a bidding war over him.

July 13, 2011  08:15 AM ET

I can't see anyone offering him billions, he's old, been locked up past 2 years, questionable work ethic, old leg injury, come to think of it someone will pay him very well (Al, JJ , Snyder come to mind)

Picking up Plax would be a shot in the dark.

July 13, 2011  08:17 AM ET

Ironically the other 31 teams in the league said the same thing!!!

July 13, 2011  08:26 AM ET

At the end of the day he's still 6"4 and can outjump everyone in the endzone, he's a cancer for sure, but he also has something to prove. I'd take him for a couple million for his height and hands alone.

You are right. There are teams with him high on their list of FA.

Cheap is what Chicago does best!

July 13, 2011  08:43 AM ET

I would be shocked if he gets a big contract from any team!

July 13, 2011  08:44 AM ET

He sure isn't in a spot to command big money. Still, he probably got lots of practice at "evasive maneuvers" while in the clink. Probably in the shower in flip flops no less.

That's cold man, funny as hell, but cold...

Likewise. I see a single-year deal with an option for a second year, heavy on the incentives. Any team that signs him is going to play it safe.

Sad but true... their spending spree at the beginning of the FA period last year was a blip on the radar for Jerry Angelo's spending habits.

Pretty much like Otis already said... (Sorry, Otis)

July 13, 2011  08:51 AM ET

Plax will be in Cincinnati.

July 13, 2011  08:51 AM ET

I think all teams would like to have him on the cheap. I'm sure that is what his agent is bargaining for, which team will pay him the least amount of money, with his limited amount of playing years left.
