Testy exchange reveals NCAA not done with Auburn

08:27 AM ET 07.14 | It's not over yet. Last month, when athletic officials from the Southeastern Conference met in Destin, Fla., the annual gathering had an eye-popping moment. Julie Roe Lach, the NCAA's vice president for enforcement, made a presentation to the group, which included every men's basketball coach, football coach and athletic director in the conference. When she opened up the room for discussion, Auburn's football coach, Gene Chizik, raised his hand first. ... Chizik complained that the inquiry's open-ended nature had hurt Auburn's recruiting and he followed up at least three times, leading to a testy exchange. "You'll know when we're finished," Roe Lach told Chizik, according to several coaches who were at the meeting. "And we're not finished."

Chizik kept bringing it up because he's trying to convince HIMSELF there was no cheating. He should have kept his mouth shut.

Let 'em sweat a while...or he could go pray in the $180,000 portion of the church.

Oops, I meant the other part....that portion was built with devil money.

SMU paid out $61,000 but it was in sleazy little envelopes delivered by athletic department bag men. The church money laundering scheme reflects how far the technology has advanced.

You had better enjoy looking at that shiny trophy while you can, Gene...

Won't be around long.

There's a lot of spin around this. Many auburn sites are blaming Derek Dooley for bringing it up first, but that does not seem to be the way it went down.

He kept repeatedly asking her basically the same question until she finally had to tell him it wasn't over.

This goes directly what we've been told for months - that there wasn't even an investigation. Maybe Chizik is in the dark about what is known by the power brokers at his school.

SOME people just don't know when to ****. But go ahead, coach. I'll get you a BIGGER shovel IF you wish. LOL

Which is how most people are interpreting it.

auburn fans, however, are interpreting it as "Chizik knows we're clean and wants the NCAA to state it."

Either that...or he's confident there was no wrongdoing and is tired of the insinuations. Gene's no dummy, he knew exactly what he was doing.

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, BidsNew.com

Kate why don't you just s-hut the h-ell up.

Supposedly he asked if there would be a timeframe when all the investigations would be over.

Sounds like Chiz was doing a pretty good Mike Garrett impersonation.

Not a good idea.

Doubtful. He came off as someone trying to pressure an NCAA investigator into saying no investigation is going on and he was put down. That is how just about everyone there is characterizing it.

The insinuations will never go away.
