08:17 AM ET 07.15 | Over the past 10 seasons, some pretty good players have come and gone through college programs, but who's No. 1? Florida QB Tim Tebow. He finished his career as one of the most accomplished players in college history and has become an icon of sorts. He won the Heisman in 2007, the first sophomore to win the award. That was his first season as the Gators' starter, and he became the first player in NCAA history with 20 TDs as a runner (23) and passer (32) in the same season. Tebow was part of two national title teams; he ran for a TD and also threw for a score in the Gators' rout of Ohio State in the '06 national championship game, and tossed two TD passes against Oklahoma in the '08 title contest. In four bowl games, he accounted for 12 TDs. He was a Heisman finalist as a junior and as a senior, and finished his career with 9,285 passing yards, 2,947 rushing yards, 88 passing TDs and 57 rushing TDs. He is fourth all-time in touchdowns accounted for and second all-time in career passing efficiency. He was a first-round pick in the 2010 draft.

Oh please! Next it will be the well worn "Best All Time" storyline. Nothing else to write about while waiting on football to commence.

Why is this a thread on FN???? Trying to stir the pot @ Tebow lovers vs haters?

July 15, 2011  09:08 AM ET

They HAD to find a place for this picture, didn't they?

Must be a slow news day for the Mods. No news here, Tebow was the best over the last decade. Clearly.

He was not even the best for the Gators. Percy Harvin was better.

Tim who?

Never heard of him.

July 15, 2011  09:15 AM ET

He was pretty good. We finally figured him out, though. He was clutch against us in 08.

With the exception of the leadership qualities. PH could change a game in a couple of seconds, for sure, but TT hauled that team around on his shoulders from a leadership standpoint.

This time of year is considered the "Dead Zone", as we really have no other sports besides MLB to talk about.

Leadership is not mentioned. And there is no doubt that Tebow was a great player but people give him credit for 06. Percy had a huge part of the success of the 06 team.

Tebow was a great player and Florida assembled a team of future professionals around him and they had a few good years. I'm a Tebow fan but that was then this is now BFD.

I would take VY or CAM if given the choice between the 3

For a single game yes. However Tebow is a better leader of a team.

Amen, Dr.....let's talk about 2011 and 2012 not 2008 & 2009.

I'm tired of the tOSU threads and SEC cheats threads, too....how about some threads about conference/NC predictions? How about a thread for Heisman candidates not named Luck?

Let's get some trash-talking, My team can beat your team from some more groups other than tOSU and Meat-chicken?

Is that too much to ask for????????

I think Jeebus Tebow was usually hauling defenders around on his shoulders as well.

Yeah, his part in the 06 team's MNC has been overhyped for certain. He had some key plays but they were a long way from what PH did that season.

But overall, I think TT in his role as QB/FB/leader over the course of his career was more valuable to the team than PH.
