10:04 AM ET 07.16 | New York Yankees catcher Russell Martin said the Blue Jays are dirty, thievin' rats. Martin claims the Jays were stealing signs from second base in Thursday's 16-7 drubbing of New York "You move your head one way it's a fastball, you move your head the other way it's a slider," Martin told reporters. "It's just an easier game when you know what's coming,"

Stealing signs is a time honored tradition.

Disguise your signs better.

Get with the program bro. The Blue Jays can't steal signs if you are taking care of business.

never understood why this is such a big deal...if you don't like it shut your pie hole and do something about it

This falls on Martin's shoulders, do a better job of giving signs, other teams change up signs with men on 2nd. Plus it's not like the only time Toronto was hitting the ball was when someone was on 2nd.

Spot on!

Sounds like Martin was giving them away more than the Jays were stealing them.

Martin should take his pork chop and head off to Kansas City.

July 16, 2011  10:58 AM ET

So what? Hitters have a pretty good idea what the pitch will be half the time anyways.

I don't hear the Jays whining that the Red Sox are hitting about 100 points higher off Romero than any other team in the league. They've obviously spotted something in his delivery that's tipping his pitches or they're (shudder) stealing signs. Mr. Martin needs to toughen up and develop a bit more of that good old Canadian hockey player mentality and start protecting his signs a bit better. I'm not sure that my old heart can take much more of the Yankees and their bloated payroll whining.

the yankees still only scored 1 run so even if they did it had no impact on the outcome

I think it was about the 16-7 pounding game the night before. But you are right.
