08:00 AM ET 07.18 | Reggie Wayne is just waiting to see a 317 area code pop up on his phone. Whenever the call comes, Wayne promises to answer and be ready even though his contract remains an issue. The five-time Pro Bowl selection is in the final year of a six-year, $39 million contract he signed in 2006. He's due a base salary of $5.95 million this season. That's hardly chump change, but below market value for a player of Wayne's caliber. The average salary of the top 10 receivers in 2010 was $8.65 million. ... "I'm a Colt. What else I'm gonna be?" Wayne said, dismissing a question about a possible camp holdout. "I'm going to go to work. That's what I do." Yet it's clear he yearns for a new deal from the Colts. He believes he has earned it.

The new CBA should be raising the cap, as well as lowering the rooking scale, so veterans like Wayne will/should get good paydays.

I'm still a little suprised Marvin Harrison never re-surfaced anywhere. He could still have contributed somewhere. I suppose he wanted too much money.

Some of these free agent players are going to be in for a rude awakening if there ends up being a salary cap this season. Of coarse if Congress cannot come up with a debt ceiling how can you expect the NFL to come up with a resonable salary cap?

Time out - he signed a contract so live by it and stop complaining. If he had some terrible years in there would he have been knocking on the door to give back some of the money - I think not. So stop with this all and go back to work.

Minn - Cold - Yes he signed a contract, however if he got injured, played poorly, etc., the Colts would have cut him and not paid the contract. If the team has that option, why do you expect the player to shut up and never say anything about his contract. Besides, Reggie never said he was not going to go to work, he just said he wants a new contract since his current one expires after this year.

He signed a 39Mill. $ deal in 2006:
If he hadn't performed well during these past few years:: Do you think he'd offer some of the money back?
Guess having a premier QB, an pass 1st minded OC and an owner that secures a premium caliber O Line doesn't make you a better reciever, It's just YOU.
Gotta wonder how GREAT he'd be if he had Chad Pennington, Henne, Campbell or JeMarcus Russell as his QB?
SHUT UP and cash your check!
