08:12 AM ET 07.19 | Not surprisingly, Ozzie Guillen went on the record with his interest in keeping Mark Buehrle in a White Sox uniform. "I wish I had the money and power to [say yes]," Guillen said. "Everyone knows how people feel about Mark Buehrle here in Chicago. I keep saying he's one of my favorite players off the field and on the field. Do we want to see him in Chicago? Of course we do. But the plans out there? I cannot [say] yes or no. Do I want him? Yes. Does Kenny want him? Yes. But we don't talk about money, years. All kinds of stuff goes [into] it. I don't know if we'll keep him. If we keep him, fine. If we don't, that's part of the game. I wish it was in my hands, but it's not." Buehrle has won five of his last seven over 12 starts, compiling a 2.62 ERA, not allowing more than three runs over that span.

Somebody was nice and edited all the MF's out of Ozzie's comments.

Trade him now.

Wow! A kinder, gentler Ozzie.

July 19, 2011  09:30 AM ET

The title here is not quite correct...Ozzie actually tied Buehrle's hands, hung him from a steam pipe, and pistol whipped him while his son tweeted out the action. No particular reason, Ozzie was just a little hyped up and needed something to do. Fing guy!!!

So Ozzie wants to keep his best pitcher, but doesn't know if the Sox can afford him. Duh.

ChiSoxFan ... do people in Chicago actually like Ozzie? I'm just curious, because it seems like everyone else either hates him or thinks he is a joke.

Most White Sox fans that I know here in Chicago like him a lot. It seems like outside of the city, he is despised. I honestly think he is a good manager and would find a new managerial job immediately if his tenure ended here for some reason. I also know some Sox fans that think he should be canned ASAP due to the team's performance and corresponding $128 million payroll. It's been a lackluster season to say the least.

as long mark buehrle does his job, then there is no reason to trade him or to resign him to another three years contract!!

well, alacran, if the White Sox continue to wallow in suckville and Buehrle continues to be productive, the White Sox should try to find a team in contention he'd be willing to waive his 10/5 rights for. the White Sox farm system is barren and in dire need of prospects. don't get me wrong alacran, I like Mark Buehrle, he's spent his whole career here. however, he is in the last year of his contract, making a ton of money. the White Sox should consider moving him.

guess the white sox will have to do what's best for both, the pitcher itself, and franchise as well!!

July 19, 2011  09:21 PM ET

i can imagine the red sox or the angels will go after buehrle on the off season!!!

He's from St. Louis and the Cardinals are looking for pitching help. Just saying.
