They also have 26 unrestricted free agents. Cutting or trading him would free up $12.5 million.

The story here is the teams over and under the cap. The Cowboys and Giants are over by significant numbers. Many teams are sooo far under they will have to throw money at people to reach the " floor."
Makes you wonder what all those teams that were up to 60 million under the old cap did with all that money ? Revenue sharing made them all guaranteed profitable.

Cap hit (should)= salary.....period. This is as bad as our ridiculous federal tax code. KISS, no game-playing. How much trouble do private companies get into when they start this kind of 'voodoo' accounting?
