08:03 AM ET 07.22 | And now for something completely different. Brian Dawkins will be back with the Broncos this year, most likely as their starting strong safety. And yes, he will take less money to do so. "When I signed this deal I knew what it was," Dawkins said Thursday while watching 18 of his Bronco teammates and 27 other local professionals work out with trainer Loren Landow at Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch. "It was basically a two-year deal. I knew after a couple years there was a balloon (mechanism) and we most likely would have to restructure. That's no big deal to me." Dawkins has collected roughly $9 million through the first two years of the contract he signed as a free agent with the Broncos in March 2009. A fair price for an eight-time Pro Bowler.

A good Bronco? What's next, a law-abiding Bengal?

The market is not too good for a 37 soon to be 38 year old safety regardless of his past.

About to be 38 yes but can still put a hell of a hit on another young wideout.

If he can catch the wide out, aging wheels don't last forever. I respect Dawkins, dude was awesome, nasty hits over the years he has inflicted. But, I'm a realist.. accept your 3 mil for one year deal and move on Mr. Dawkins.

At this point in his career I would say he is a class Bronco, which is not necessarily a good Bronco.

He's got his money through the years so he's set. He's not thinking about anyone else but himself.

Dawkins has got to be one of the oldest to still play at his position.
