07:56 AM ET 07.24 | A member of the Miami football staff (not offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch) called the Jacory Harris/Stephen Morris battle genuinely even and said Morris has the better skill set, but that Harris knows the offense very well and is more advanced as a leader. The UM official said Harris was asked to throw deep way too much and should be better in this offense, which makes more use of the running backs in the passing game. And he said the staff believes Harris is much more effective when he has skilled pass-catching tight ends and that he should have better ones in 2011 than in 2010. A second UM football assistant told associates he expects Harris will win the job. But that likely won't be the case if Morris clearly outplays him in August.

Harris has thrown 39 interceptions in his career. Maybe it is time to legitimately give the other guy a shot.
