08:16 AM ET 07.24 | The Packers are all ears when it comes to talking about trading Nick Barnett. Moving him would save them more than $4 million on the salary cap, and they could use that space. Barnett is a versatile, valuable defender who can start in multiple schemes and at multiple positions, but he's now behind Desmond Bishop and A.J. Hawk on the Packers' depth chart.

They want to trade him because they plan on cutting him. Teams can wait. With all those free agents about to hit the market the trade market will be small.

Agreed.

Considering the NFL and NFLPA agreed on a salary cap of $120 million for 2011, the Green Bay Packers only have $62,600 of cap space. They can't afford to keep Nick Barnett.

thats too bad, nick is a very emotional player that sometimes lets those emotions get the better of him and commit stupid penalties, but overall his a very good instinctive player, teams can take a wait and see attitude and hope they cut him, but the pack really dont have to salary cap wise, they can carry him for a year, any team that needs versitle, fast player would be stupid to hope and wait.

The truth of the matte is the Pack has more depth than a number of other teams combined -- the luxury is looking at your two and three year players and realizing what they will be ...
