No major deals for Angels?

09:00 AM ET 07.24 | The Angels made major moves during the non-waiver trade period in two of the last three summers, adding first baseman Mark Teixeira in 2008 and acquiring right-hander Dan Haren last season. Don't expect the same this year. With a week to go before the July 31 deadline, the Angels have clear needs but don't appear to have the means to address them. Although General Manager Tony Reagins hasn't publicly discussed a wish list, his team could use at least one more arm at the back of the bullpen and a power bat for the middle of the lineup. Toward that end, the team has been eagerly courting the San Diego Padres, who are likely to move reliever Heath Bell or Mike Adams, possibly both.

They made their moves last season.

Looked good taking 2 of 3 from my Rangers... they are fine right now.

Hopefully the Rockies will be happy to unload some dead wood on the Angles...after all...the Rockies are always willing to trade dead wood for someone elses

They're not. Great starting pitching, but their bullpen is suspect. They also can't seem to get their bats going at the same time.

It does not really matter what the Angels, Yanks or Red Sox do this year... the story is already written.....none of them measure up (again) to the Rangers, who if their starters (as a group, best in baseball) get hot during playoffs could again be favored to go all the way this time. Besides, given the clear advantage in front office know-how, coveted prospects, and plenty of cash, Rangers will skim off the top, if their were any deals worth doing.

Abreu and Hunter have been a cancer in the lineup in July. Last night against the O's the Angels had 4 non-hitters in their lineup, Hunter, Abreu, Branyan and Mathis. You ca't win that way unless Weaver or Harren is pitching.

In this economy, there is not too many teams that will be buyers...

Your name is truly fitting. The Angels are 4 games behind Texas and the "story" has not been "written."

What's up, HTG?

In fact the next time Harren, who hit .270 in 2 2/3rds years with the Diamondbacks, pitches, he should hit and the DH should be for the catcher's position. The DH can be in the batting lineup in lieu of any position player. Harren is a far better hitter than Mathis.

Texas should be interested in Heath Bell.

1 r in Haren.

Based on Reagins player acquisition strategy in the recent past, it would suggest that he will target Adam Dunn

Then Sciosia should go all the way and bat Harren 8th. That way he could truly one up TLR in over managing the team

this team lacks from discipline at the plate, loves to swing right away at the first pitch and sad ending its always the same grounded to the second pop up, grounded to the short or a double play everything against the angels, the opposite pitcher count its like 5 to 7 pitch count on every inning all because the halos agressive approach lacks of vision, patience at the plate, pitch selection which its bad enough for the angels!!

He's ours. He'll be hot in a week or two, or five.

Hey, Uggla has like a 14 game hitting streak and is clubbing the crap out of the ball all of the sudden. So, there's hope. I have to say though, that Uggla kept the best attitude I've ever seen going through this slump. I get the sense that Dunn wants to roll up into the fetal position and suck his mommies' teeties.
