05:43 AM ET 07.25 | While rookies Tyler Chatwood and Mike Trout were teaming up to beat the Orioles on Sunday, aging sluggers Bobby Abreu, Torii Hunter and Vernon Wells remained on pace for career-worst seasons in more than one major offensive category this year. But Angels Manager Mike Scioscia isn't ready to blame the decline on age. "These guys are going through rough stretches now, but they're athletic, they're still in great shape. Their bat speed's there," Scioscia said. "At times in a hitters' career you have to come to a point where you have to make some adjustments."

This title seems redundant to me: "Aging" and "decline" imply the same thing to me in terms of baseball.

Basing this speculation off of one game seems unfair to me , as well. Plus, Wells has been heating up of late.

I am a huge VW fan (his father's quite an artist as well) but their three ages add up to 105! Vernon, turning 33 in December, is the youngest and may heat up a little, but his performance has been heading south. I wish all three of them luck, but their careers are headed elsewhere...

vernon wells is a good guy and all. but he's never been a good ballplayer. wait, my mistake. for a half season there he was good. then they gave him a ton of money. and now here we are still assessing the dude based on his contract instead of based on his performance.

I am sure your user ID name is appropriately named. Just because the Rangers are have a good year sure brings out the cockiness in you. Do it consistently then you can brag...or at least win one WS. Pretty sad that with all those power hitters last year, your boys cannot even beat out the feather weight hitter from the Giants....very pathetic....

the ones who really have to do adjustments its the angels perhaps they should try to trade torii hunter, bobby abreu, jeff mathis, reggie willis, rodney, about well i guess the halos have to deal with their own mistakes,

July 25, 2011  05:31 PM ET

the angels and mike sciocia need and they most try to kindly change their lineup, at times like this the halos can't just seat down and hope for a miracle to happen, perhaps if the angels bench wells, abreu, hunter, who knows they may have better outcome from this different lineup it looks like the small players can play better than those named sluggers, not to mentioned that the sluggers forgot the meanning of discipline!!

age could be a problem but if the experienced guys refuse to be more patient, and been more discipline, more pitch selective then its very little mike sciocia could really do for this guys,

July 25, 2011  05:37 PM ET

trumbo should be more patient and select the right pitch try to avoid strikeout so many times

July 25, 2011  09:59 PM ET

could the astros trade again for beltran??

July 25, 2011  10:02 PM ET

its there any posibility that the angels could trade for a hitter? the halos need somebody with conssistency at the plate about coco crispi from the A'S?

July 25, 2011  10:26 PM ET

how long the astros and the mariners need to keep their managers? until they have lost more than 100 games? or until the fans refuse to pay to go to the stadium? i believe even if the fans get free pass to watch the game at the stadium everybody should refuse to go, because there should be some way to show the owners the fans discontent!!

July 25, 2011  10:28 PM ET

the royals should be sellers,,,the the A'S have to trade as many players this july!!

July 25, 2011  10:30 PM ET

yankees being doing as many deals the whole year, this team has being shopping every month since the season start!

July 25, 2011  10:32 PM ET

san luis will love to play the rest of the season against the astros so the cards be able to win the pennant without any trouble!!

July 25, 2011  10:34 PM ET

the angels would need to shop for a player like ubaldo jimenez, so the team could have and extra hope on winning late games!!

July 25, 2011  10:36 PM ET

the tigers love to play the game against the white sox, because that's the only way the team can wake up and play the game more seriously!!

July 25, 2011  10:38 PM ET

the rangers been just kicking back because the twins are on vacation on this series against the rangers!!
