06:47 AM ET 07.25 | I just received confirmation from a source close to the situation that Oklahoma cornerback/wide receiver Marcus Trice is transferring to UNT. Trice was a top 250 player in the country coming out of high school. Needless to say this is another huge get for Dan McCarney's staff.

QUOTE(#1):

OK, no one with a legitimate shot at playing time for Zero U, in a year when they're expected to contend for the NC, is gonna decide that no, he thinks North Texas offers a better opportunity. So what's the deal? Had he slipped to the bottom of the pack in Zero U's depth chart? Are there personal and/or family reasons driving his move back to the D/FW area? What?

He isn't on the depth chart either....not sure what is going on here.

You mean that Gallery Furniture Bowl tie-in and the associated bling from going to the Gallery Furniture Bowl didn't sway him?

You're old...you're power level is always low.

Looks like he couldn't crack the starting rotation or depth chart and wanted more playing time...also something about being involved in a violation for turning in a coach who asked him why he didn't show up for a voluntary practice....

Marcus Trice

As one former UF player put it, "I never had a voluntary practice, they were pretty mandatory if you want to play"

Had a hospital CEO once tell us that the managers were going to participate in fixing a house for some people in need.

Most of us would have done it anyway, but the way he put it....it was voluntary, but if we wanted to keep our jobs we would show up and enjoy.

Kind of like a directive I saw in the Army. "You will have 30 days off each year. You will take these 30 days off and WILL return refreshed and rested."

LOL

Wow, North Texas out doing both OK and TX, they becoming the new beast of Texas. hehehe

This is where I say something like....

He was just a reserve, no big loss.

Wasn't going to get much playing time anyway...wasn't even on the depth chart. Only played on Special Teams last year.

Have plenty of CB's that are ready to step in and play

QUOTE(#17):

Default I kind of figured that, but how do you not be on the depth chart somewhere! You guys would even give him the time of day, so no wonder he left. Really though, gotta hurt to be not even on the chart at all.

They knew he was leaving so they did not put him on the roster, maybe?

QUOTE(#18):

Big time football is like the military... Dont know if he turned the coach in or not.. But I bet it makes it difficult for him to play w/ the perception that he did..And if he was GREAT...He would transfer to another big time school..

Since he only played on Special Teams (before he allegedly turned in the coach), I'm thinking this was one of those over-hyped studs.....
