Likelihood of Leinart-to-Seattle increasing

08:04 AM ET 07.26 | All eyes in Seattle will be on the very unsettled quarterback position. After all, Charlie Whitehurst is the only player signed for next season at that position. The team's preference remains re-signing Matt Hasselbeck, but that doesn't mean the Seahawks are inclined to increase the offer they made him in March. If Hasselbeck isn't re-signed, is Seattle really comfortable with Whitehurst as the starter? That appears to be the case, but don't expect Whitehurst to be handed the job. He will have to compete for it against someone like Tarvaris Jackson of Minnesota. Expect Matt Leinart to get a look, too, and it might even be considered likely that he'll end up in Seattle.

If Whitehurst has to compete against TJack, then the SeaBags are in serious trouble.

Oh, don't I know it. Hoping for a QB to parachute in...please!

Can't do much for a fan's hopes for a season...

Been there, Man.

Whitehurst won't be handed the job, but he'll only have to compete with someone like TJack? How is that not the same thing?

"Leinart may be coming to Seattle" is greeted here with the same enthusiasm as "it might be a tumor, but we have to wait for test results".

Abilene Ruff Riders were his last team. Bit of a slide, looks like.

Whitehurst vs. Leinart vs. TJack. Sleepless in Seattle, because everyone's going to stay up all night drinking themselves into oblivion.

But, as I said in another thread, Hasselbeck is staying in Seattle. Like the Seahawks, he's not going anywhere.

Sadly, I concur.

As do I, and most of the Hawk fans I know. I'm thinkin' the front office better pull a rabbit out of a hat or it's going to be an ugly, long season.

Cheer up. You're still in the NFC West, after all, where 7-9 can get you to the playoffs.

But what is the point when you're just going to be cannon fodder? The Saints miracle aside, that's all it'll be.

Matt Leinart will come to Seattle even if Hasselbeck signs with them.

More like a golden horseshoe outta their a**! It sucks when you avoid hilights on Sunday night because you know their gonna show those sickening plays again...and again. Oh well, it still beats anything else on tv.

I've been living in a nightmare for the past 6 seasons in terms of QBs. You Seahawks fans should feel lucky to have had a compotent QB during that time. Hell, we've still got Alex Smith behind center. I'd rather us sign a guy like Vince Young or Carson Palmer and just give them a chance instead of watching Alex Smith turn the ball over 4 times a game.

Thanks, I am starting to feel better...

Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear - 2001, after starting the season 0-1, Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe goes down with an injury in game 2, dashing the hopes of New England fans for a great season. And off the bench comes a young man who has thrown for a total of of six yards in his NFL career...

It's a new season, DJ. Start it with the hope that springs eternal.

As you should. Plus, your ownership is much better. I have no questions your QB situation will be figured out by the time we start playing football.
