08:19 AM ET 07.26 | When asked about the Longhorn Network, an oft-approached subject of Big 12 media days, even Mike Sherman held his tongue. Missouri coach Gary Pinkel chose not to. Responding to questions about what was easily the most talked-about topic at Day One of this year's Big 12 media days at the Westin Galleria, Pinkel left no doubts about how he felt about the birth of The Longhorn Network and the desire of its creators to televise high school games along with University of Texas athletics. ... "It's a lack of common sense there to think that the network, the university network, can show high school games on their network," Pinkel continued. "To me, there's no common sense there." Right or wrong, Pinkel, who later in the day called the same thought "ludicrous," was by far the most outspoken coach about the issue.

Of course, they are ranked above them in the media poll.

That's what I was thinking.

ninja'd by 0-6 already this morning. My son waking up twice last night took away any SEC speed I had today.

Lubbock press is claiming that ESPNsux is the one "demanding" conference and HS games be televised on LHN instead of one of their "other" channels. I thought the Red Fader faithful would be screaming at and accusing the rust colored cows of everything. Whas up T sippers?

"...you don't tug on superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't poke the mask of the old lone ranger and you don't mess around with Bevo"

Be careful there Gary you do have to play date Nov 12 you know.

In a way, he's right. It helps recruiting if you tell a HS kid, "Hey, we'll get you on TV as a high school player."

TX HS coaches are already in the Horns back pocket

It's still a big help if you say, "Hey, kid, are you interested in Texas? Well, we can get your high school games on TV."

Just saying...

#3 deep creek, Lubbock will not say anything that TU does not like. They are a good little sister and will defend Bevo no matter what Bevo does.
Good for Pickel. Wonder if Missouri is still shopping around.

+1. Not sure who thinks this particular venue is right for HS games. One of the ESPN channels or something else not tied in to one college makes much more sense.

And in other news, Gary Pinkel called a great race as crew chief on Sunday leading Dick Trickle to his third consecutive NASCAR win. Pinckel and Trickle worked together to pull off a stunning inside pass of Jimmy Johnson in lap #393 of the Coca-Cola 500 on Sunday...........................
