Cowboys cuts a show of Garrett's power

08:03 AM ET 07.28 | Jason Garrett appears to have some juice as the new sheriff in town. By cutting three popular players who held sway over a lot of teammates in the locker room, the reactions should be: "Gulp, they got rid of those guys so I better take care of my business." ... [Marion Barber] famously did not comply with Garrett's dress code edict before the coach's first game against the New York Giants. Barber was fined. [Leonard Davis] wore a ridiculously short tie -- after showing up for the plane ride without one -- and it was noticed. [Roy Williams] had some comments about a lack of passes coming his way. It was noticed. Small stuff, to be sure, but that small stuff chips away at a coach's authority. Garrett took care of the small stuff in a big way Tuesday.

9-7 would be a bigger show of power...

Agreed. I'd still call getting rid of Roy a great start.

Hmmm...a decisive way of showing who's in charge.

Make it count, Garrett.

There's a new sheriff in town, boys!

I have a bad feeling Chicago is going to go after him...

All three needed to go...

Kosier resigned this morning. 3Yr @ $9M. Good deal...

July 28, 2011  08:24 AM ET

Fine, but how long can JJ keep his finger off the trigger?

July 28, 2011  08:31 AM ET

Garrett is just a pawn in Jerry Jones' game.

July 28, 2011  08:39 AM ET

Doesnt show any power, other than getting under the cap

Great deal. After drafting Smith and signing Free, this will help the OL.

Someone will, although for a lot less money than what JJ paid him.

Cut Romo!

Morning Count, McNabb to the Vikings, that should make your day

July 28, 2011  08:54 AM ET

Getting under the cap is showing your power, no wonder why the Cowboys suck.

July 28, 2011  08:55 AM ET

New sheriff............same old Jerry Jones calling all shots....Hope the boys ROT in last place
in NFC.................You still don't have a QB that can win it all so non-boy fans are not too
worried..

More like it gave Cooper wood!

He'll get hurt. the Packer, Bear, and Detroit d-lines will see to it.

The Vikings, where old Q.B.'s come to die!

These were not exactly hard cuts to make. Even Puff the Tragic Dragon would have done this had he still been the head coach.
Let me know the day he cuts Dez for being a sloppy dresser. Until then, this is just BS. They were cut because they got paid more than they were worth. That is all.
