Pac-12 going for seven networks

The Pacific-12 Conference, which has made no secret of its desire to create a network to showcase its newly expanded league, announced Wednesday that it would create six regional channels and a national one. There will be a network for each of the six regions that have two colleges: Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Southern California, Arizona and Mountain. All will carry national programming, including 35 football games, more than 100 men's basketball games and 40 women's basketball games, as well as the Olympic sports that traditionally have gotten little or no television exposure. ... "It's such a unique opportunity," said [Scott], the Pac-12's commissioner.

Lack of Pac10/12 exposure is due mostly to decisions at Fox & ABC - same TV partners as Big12. They own rights of exclusivity and choose what to show - the schools have no say whatsoever. Sometimes, in some markets, they don't show football at all during a Saturday time slot 'cause some snot-nosed MBA doesn't understand sports.

LOL! When ABC passes on a game (they get 1st pick) Fox computers start crunching numbers. Do they broadcast a game, show a sitcom, sell a game to Versus or produce it on pay-per-view? It's hilarious that Fox sets aside 6-7 games a year hoping to subcontract them to Versus.
