04:06 PM ET 07.29 | Clint Bowyer and team owner Richard Childress both said Friday that they are close to reaching a contract extension. Childress said he hopes to have something to announce within the next few weeks. "I hope we have it done in a couple of days," Bowyer said with a laugh as he prepared for Sunday's Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There has been speculation that Bowyer was waiting to see if Carl Edwards leaves Roush Fenway Racing for Joe Gibbs Racing, which would open a possible spot for him with Roush. ... "He's committed he's going to race with us," Childress said. "Our whole deal is we've got to put the dollars together."

ask and i shall receive! its like magic! instead of clint (who really had no choice but to re-sign with RCR), i read this today about carl:
Another UPDATE: #99-Carl Edwards is staying focused on winning a championship despite widespread speculation that he is leaving Roush Fenway Racing for Joe Gibbs Racing after this season. Edwards would not comment Friday on whether he has made a decision, but he was adamant that it will not hurt his chances of winning the title regardless. "I feel like no matter what happens we have a great thing going," said Edwards, who has a seven-point lead over five-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson heading into Sunday's Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

it would be pretty neat to see jr break his winless streak by kissing the bricks, but I think its gonna be my man harvick and the 29 team kissing them again this year. im probably wrong, but just a feeling. Anyone but JPM
