Samuel odd man out in Philly?

08:29 AM ET 07.30 | After two wild days of roster activity, the Eagles found themselves Friday evening with three high-paid, electrifying, playmaking Pro Bowl cornerbacks. Logic says there's no way the Eagles keep all three corners. In a salary-cap NFL, it's hard to imagine there's a place for a $5 million-a-year nickle corner. Since the Eagles just acquired Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in the Kevin Kolb deal on Thursday and signed Nnamdi Asomugha to a five-year, $60 million contract on Friday, logic also says Asante Samuel is the odd man out.

Aso will play a lot of FS. I think there is an excellent chance they keep all 3 unless they are blown away with an offer.

Why would they move their best CB to FS?

Well...that's smart. Lock up the best corner tandem in the NFL, and then cut one of them.
Please - do it...
DRC for Kolb was a steal, but there's a reason he was on the block.
- And if you're feeling bitter, Asante, I hear Dallas is too...

Because they lost Mikell and will use Aso like Woodson is used in Green Bay. All over the field in different alignments. Extending Aso's career.

Samuel is out of there, it is just a matter of how. Cut or trade. His ego will never let him play safety or nickel.

I see your point, but it's too early for that. You don't give a 5 year 60 million dollar contract to move a guy to FS. The Eagles should try to keep Asante happy and have a solid CB trio.

They will not and neither will he. He is no tackling machine and not much for contact. I hope they do put him at safety, good for the opposing team.

I respect your opinion but Hova but it's the best way for them to get all 3 of those guys on the field at the same time.

If they played him at FS and moved him into the box for run defense he would run the other way. Not going to happen.

Woodson wasn't considered a huge tackling machine either but has played well at FS for the Packers. They use him in different alignments and it works. Aso could as well.

The SS helps against run defense. The FS? Not so much.

No I agree it's not going to happen. I don't think Nnamdi should be playing FS at all. My comment was aimed at Djroxalot who does think it's a good idea. You don't put the best cover man in the league at a safety position.

He won't start but he will see time there.

Don't know why he would play FS and i don't see him wanting to play it so when will the trade offers come in for him is the question.

Good point. He is no safety though. Not at all. He has always been a bait and wait cover guy. And not much of a tackler.

Woodson was a CB until GB got ahold of him and used him in different defensive sets.

Samuel and Cromartie would be horrible at FS and I see them maximizing using all 3 of these guys at the same time.

Look, the guy demanded a trade to get out of NE. He is no different now.
AND his contract makes him hard to move in a trade. He has $6 million coming his way this year and $8.4 due next year. He is not happy to being paid less than the new guy and being used in other places.
He is a zone type cover guy. I read they want to press cover at CB now.
He is not in camp now and that tells you all you need to know. It is personal reasons alright, he told them to move his a## out of there.

Regardless the Eagles are now favorites to win the East and I think they will face the Packers in the NFC title game.
